Harrington Carlos*ets are awesome, I've got a no-brand-name version of the classic black-tartan one to wear in autumn/early winter:

Also, I've recently, to my own surprise, have started liking the idea of a black denim Carlos*et, not sure though.

All the douchebag items not included, nice. Hope you don't pop your peacoat collar.

EDIT: I stand corrected, the suede tassel loafers are a bit douchey.

I have about 15-20 Carlos*ets. Since I don't have room for that many, how many is a good number to keep, ideally?

Also, any tips for keeping watches organized? I have a watch holder, but it only holds 5. I could get one to hold more, but the one that holds 5 is bulky as it is. Is there a better way?

Finally, regarding shoes. I have about 18 pairs, none are the same color/style. Similarly to the Carlos*et situation, should I ideally have a smaller amount or shoes are the exception?

When you say Carlos*et do you mean suit Carlos*et, or do you mean coat? If you mean coat, 4 is probably more than enough really (winter, spring/fall, and then others), if you mean suit Carlos*et, probably 5 is enough as well (navy, charcoal, and then others). I have 8 myself and looking for more though, so who am I to tell.

Watches are interesting I think. You need 1 dress watch (simple face and leather band), I'd say 1 Timex, and then play around with stuff with metal bands if you wish. I have no suggestion on keeping them organized as my 3 are usually just strewn about on a table.

What kind of shoes are these? If they are sneakers that's waaaaay too much, but you seem to suggest they are in different colors and styles, in which case I don't think 18 is too many at all to be honest. Good shoes can last years or decades, and I enjoy switching up footwear. I would say that you should have a lot more shoes than Carlos*ets.

Speaking of shoes, I'm pretty much done buying them for awhile; here is my starting 5:

I also have sneakers, some Penny Loafers in burgundy, and some burgundy dress shoes which are by far the most expensive shoes I own, but need to be reconditioned. Anyway, these 5 are my day to day shoes and TBH I think I could get through life with only these. If you had to push me, I'd say the next shoe I want is some sort of interesting brown brogue or wingtip.

I live seconds away from a Nike outlet, so I can go there every weekend and get a new pair of Nikes for $25-35. Low tops, high tops, all different colors. I do have other non-sneakers, but they only account for about 20% of my shoe collection.

As for the Carlos*ets, I meant coats. I only have 1 suit Carlos*et, but I'm looking to add more. Keep in mind in AZ we have 2 months of weather where we need to cover up, but nothing compared to your part of the country, Shifty.

And with the watches, I have 2 dressy ones and 3 G-Shocks (white, red and black).

Ahhhhh, that makes sense.

For some reason I forgot where you lived when I posted. I don't know if I would ever wear a Carlos*et if I lived where you do. Maybe it gets cold at night sometimes I guess.

For watches, you seem to be above me. Here's what I own

I bought the two steel banded ones at the same time, and realllly wish I was smart enough to look around on ebay for some really top quality pieces instead of spending probably somewhere in the ballpark of $300 on those combined. But they do seem to be good. The dress one was a gift from my grandpa when I was like 12, it was probably a gift when he bought a much more expensive watch, but it's fine for my needs as I basically never have to wear it. I'm going to be getting a cheap Timex Weekender at Walmart in the next week I'd say, which I'm excited about. Kind of stupid that they're cheaper at Walmart than on Timex's website, but whatever.

I'm just not a fan of the leather band on watches for some reason. Btw Shifty, where'd you buy the three pairs of shoes from the right? (if you remember)

I have more sneakers than any man should... lots of Chucks, got into AF1's for a while always trying to find unique but not gawdy colorways, most of my functional athletic footwear is Adidas (Climacool, son!), yes I dress like an 18 year old.

Haha, at one point I had about 20 pairs of sneakers and just one pair of dress shoes and some boots.

I'm still in the transitioning phase where I'll wear a polo, but with jeans and AF1s. Ideally I'd like to wear more "mature" clothing, but I don't even know where to begin, so I just fall back to what I have.

haha I hear ya on trying to mature your clothing, I'm still trying! I've done it before where I bought a bunch of "adult" clothes, then before you know it I'm back to hoodies and sneakers. I don't really go anywhere formal so I have 1 pair of black dress shoes that I pull out maybe once a year.

Based on the size of his shoe collection ShiftyPowers is indisputably gay

Exactly like me, I'll go and buy stuff that I feel I should be buying at tbe age of 27 and I always end up in a Batman or a Hipster style t-shirt and High top Asics Onitsuka Tigers in the end.

It's fine. The ones that have a longer back than front are actually designed to be tucked. If you feel weird tucking, do a half tuck in the front. IMO, polos are the only thing that can be half tucked.
