You stick with arcade FIFA. Meanwhile, I'm now looking where I can pre-order PES 2014... FINALLY a football game that appears to be a FOOTBALL SIMULATION.

Thanks for posting that vid BTW. (Y)
I thought I'll never hear that from you.

You know, you asked me for my thoughts a couple weeks back. I replied and you never responded. So apparently you didn't read what I said.

FIFA - Always has been an arcade game designed for casual gamers. Fun, but arcade.
PES - Used to be a football simulation, now it's just broken. Not fun at all.

Looks like PES is back. That video puts the FIFA 14 PC video to shame. But we'll see if Konami actually fixed the broken gameplay aspects (horrible GK AI, floaty ball physics). Those are dealbreakers for me.

Interesting stuff about you, bangus, is that you are one of the rare members at this forum who is not scared to give honest opinion about some matter. With you, I can only remember info0 and regularcat, members with who you actually can discuss about both FIFA and PES without hairs on the tonque. I never responded to your post as I have had feeling everything good I say about PES you'll disagree, it was pointless at the moment for me to discuss with hardcore FIFA boy about PES, and I'm not saying you are one of the FIFA fanboys. You said you played PES 2013 Demo only, and with that I dont find you legitimate enough to discuss about PES 2013 flaws, that's it. I'll probably ask you for your opinion later on, after more materials, gameplay videos etc, comes out from both games.

Being told that, and seeing both games gameplay, PES have not went out of my expectations (and I had big expectations about it), but it have satisfied what I though it'll be. It's too early to be smart though. About FIFA gameplay seen, well, I noticed some changes in animations, but game speed is the same if its judging by the video. I dont like fast paced FIFA. Speaking of graphics, I'm more interesting for the gameplay at the moment, as both games looks nice.

The problem with FIFA is that player positioning on the pitch is all wrong and completely unrealistic. And I doubt EA will fix that for next-gen because they intentionally design the game that way. They know what casual gamers want: they want to play sports games where it's easy to score and to win. And in FIFA, it's easy to score goals because the CPU never has more than 4 backs defending while the rest of the CPU team stands around watching. And the CPU never sends more than 1 or 2 defenders after the ball carrier. It's essentially 1-on-1 football as you move up the pitch with your player.

But look at the beginning of the PES 2014 video (108:33-1:08:35). The defending team is waiting back, even the FWs. And they're moving around the pitch as a TEAM. Stop it at 1:08:35 and you'll see something you NEVER IN A MILLION YEARS see in FIFA: 7 defenders, including the team's FWs, in a defensive semi-circle, focused on stopping the ball carrier and his near-by teammates. People can argue graphics all they want, that's another topic altogether. But when I say PES 2014 looks like the better game by miles at this point, I'm talking about this specific aspect of the game and gameplay.

Wait for the demo. You might regret buying later.

(Y) PES 2014 PC for under 39 bucks at Shopto, good deal.

If you wait for a few more months, the prices will drop further because of poor sales. :innocent_smile_1:

EA spends a lot of money making Fifa so they have to make a lot of money too. They have the talent (coders and designers) but sadly these people don`t have a say on the final output, so don`t expect too much from PES, Konami needs to make money too.

I always play the demo and/or wait for user reviews before buying any game.

The part you have wrong here is that EA designs their games to make money. That's priority #1 for EA. They specifically target young people, online gamers and casual gamers, and design and develop their games for them. Those gamers probably make up 90% of their consumer base and EA knows that.

Other companies -- Konami, Bioware, SCEA, etc. -- make games because they have a love for the game they're making. Yes, they want to make money, and who doesn't. But making a realistic, quality game is priority #1 for these companies. This is how EA and Konami are fundamentally different: Konami is first and foremost focused on making a FOOTBALL SIM. EA is first and foremost focused on making whatever type of sports game they know will sell.

Man, what do you mean at least now in sight, the difference in the results and work priorities, business interests clearly visible with NextGen is now a priority and leave quality for all platforms, I expect this to be a mistake made by EA and they will realize it. KONAMI whereas they are now on track, due to developments that they always do & they do not need a new toy to make things better (nextgen toy) Criticism of fans and some of the main problems, the solution can be given now although there is no an increase in their sales years to years. "They just try to bring football to our homes".

I totally drop what I said earlier. PES 14 is just awesome. The game speed is great, the skill moves are so natural what does not happen in FIFA and if you are a skiller like me you know what I'm talking about. What really surprised me was that just for watching I could see that player really have some weight just compare the foot planting between Ribery and Lahm.
Too bad the poor GK A.I and some mechanic movements are still there.
Now I have to see some FIFA 14 NG gameplay to better judgment.

haha, yea, I saw it now. When I read this kinda comments I dont know should I fell sorry or funny. I'm excited seeing more of PES gameplay, trailers, and I would really like to hear they improved Master League. Stuffs like assigning boots, training and other stuffs was not received well from the gamers, I hope this is out.
