Hubo Aztecazo. Costly plays in China and shined more than Chicharito.

1. Chicharito was subbed in 75th min

2. he is barely coming back from injury so still needs to get rythm

but credit to the half mexican costly who always plays his best vs Mexico

No, It was a serious question. I mean, the way he is playing with Sociedad, He should be an automatic starter in the NT.

After I asked that question though, I tried to do my own research and found out that he opted out from the NT, to focus on his League team. So it was his decision, from the looks of it.

That's the surface. Basically, he was in Chepo's doghouse. Chepo treated him like shit while he wasn't playing despite giving other players calls ups despite not being active in their respective clubs (Gio, Barrera, Juarez etc). So then once Vela was tearing it up with Sociedad, Chepo called him up and Vela has so far declined.

Supposedly in the Cofed Cup, Chepo was going to call up Vela, but Vela requested to join the team after the last game of the season. Chepo decided that he didn't warrant any special treatment and opted to not call him. Then Gio did the same thing but he was able to play his last game for Mallorca, which more or less showed the double standards that Chepo ran all the time.

That is the condensed version as to why Vela playing while Chepo was manager would be unrealistic.

I see. Well I guess I can agree in part with the coaches decision, by not letting a player dictate when he can or cannot play.

I wouldn't have a problem with it as I agree that no player should be bigger than the team, but Chepo was losing the team with horrible management, so adding that on top just made him look like a very shitty manager.

Any chance he will get called up no, or that he would consider coming back and playing for the NT. Specially with the position Mexico finds itself in?

I'm not saying he is the key to qualifying, just so you know, but he is a very important player.

I'm sure the odds are higher now that Chepo is gone, but I think at this point it all depends on him. He declined a call up to the Olympic squad and Tena was managing it, so no telling what will happen.

I'm cautiously optimistic that if Mexico can get a result against the US, then whoever becomes manager sweet-talks him into accepting a call up to the remaining two games.

It's criminal that Vela and Gio in their current form aren't playing together.

His mother married a Mexican native after divorce. Costly isn't half Mexican. His dad is a former Honduran national player.

He lived a good portion of his life in Mexico. He even said said it himself, it's his 'second country'. He rose out of the youth systems of Mexico but he established his career in Honduras. Costly may not be Mexican but he owes a bit to Mexico for his talent...

I agree, of course, I don't want them to play together this Tuesday, but they should play together after that. :)

They should tell him that if they qualify, they will build a statue of him an replace "The Angel of Independence" with his. :p

looks like Vucetich is taking over chepo's mess.

hopefully he can qualify Mexico to the world cup but with the players not cooperating looks like mission impossible.

So Carlos Vela does not get called up for the next games, but Ochoa does.

Vela was called up, he refused AGAIN.

Vucetich made it clear today he will no longer consider calling Vela to the national team.
