Don't know much about Darmian, what's he like?

Very fit, gets up and down the line a lot and can play on both flanks, should bench Valencia & Rafael easily in both 4-?-? and 3-5-2

Nani has joined Fenerbahce. 4.5 m pounds is a gift.

Darmian deal has been agreed according to "sky sources"

van Persie deal agreed with Fenerbahce according to "sky sources"

Nothing on Schneiderlin after we had a bid rejected like 2 weeks ago.

How is Darmian? I watched all WC games but didnt pay much attention to him.

Regarding Nani and RVP(The fee is less, but okay) we have cleared 800k weekly wages,Letting RVP go we only have Rooney and Wilson as ST,I can see United going big for a Striker(Kane,Lacazette). I would love Mauro Icardi(I know he signed a new contract but I read somewhere that a release clause was also there)

Regarding Schneiderlin,Mike Keegan(ex BBC reporter) said Man Utd revived their interest with improved bid.

yep he is versatile and decent money and wages(4m euro),the only thing to watch is,how quickly he can adopt the premier league. If the deal is done before Saturday(it will) he will play in pre season friendlies.
The last Torino player we signed was Denis Law(won Ballon d'Or) and scored 200+ goals for Man Utd. I know Darmian is a different player but I think he will do well for Man Utd.

EDIT: British Media had no clue who Man Utd are signing, rumors were Clyne but we never wanted him i guess,Gianluca Di Marzio broke this news, even Nani and RVP news,so I think the British media is super Clueless regarding Man Utd Transfer Targets.

Would he play RCB or RWB in a 3-5-2?

Too good for Man U
(H)

he's a fullback who can play wingback, and plays equally well on either side of the pitch ... the soundbite/headline is that he's the "new Lahm" ... contrast that to wingers who've been made to play wingback (e.g. Valencia, Cuadrado), but don't have the defensive chops to play as a proper fullback ...

and lol @sahib ... there's no need to copy and paste from whoscored; just ask people who watch Serie A how he does ...

The new Lahm, give me a break. Lahm was a regular starter for Germany in Euro 2004 when he was 20 years old. Scored the opening goal of the 2006 World Cup at 22. Darmian turns 26 this coming season. I get that some guys develop slower, but not that slower.

E: Fullback, incidentally, seems to be the position where young players can make the biggest impact early in their careers. look at all the 22 and younger fullbacks who are starring across Europe right now. For it to take him until 24 to get noticed says something. And with all due respect, being a standout with Torino in a weak league doesn't really mean a lot to me. Maybe he's the best player for Torino, but obviously anyone with a modicum of ability will shine compared to those around him.

He is Italy's starting RB and is relatively young so I think it's a good deal for just 13 m pounds with the lack of quality RBs.

EURO 2004, where Germany crashed out in the Group Stages? yeah, that's a great ad for him ... he didn't even go back to Bayern from his Stuttgart loan till 2005 ... and at home in 2006, Lahm himself was surprised to see that ball actually hit the back of the net; that he only scores 1 every 2 years sums up his abilities in that department ...

the point of the soundbite, as I phrased it, is to reveal the type of player Darmian is ... he'd be a close second to Azpi in line to Lahm's throne as far as quality fullbacks comfortable on either flank go ...

Oh, so Germany's Euro 2004 was equivalent to Italy's World Cup 2014? So 20 year old Lahm and 24 year old Darmian are equivalent. Nothing has disputed anything I've said. However, you actually felt the need to unnecessarily dismiss 20 year old Lahm because he wasn't at Bayern and Germany had a poor tournament, so... by your exact logic Darmian is shit as well.

Lahm didn't go back to Bayern in 04/05 because the loan was for 2 years. Sagnol, coming off an injury plagued 03/04 had another injury plagued season, and Bayern started guys like Gorlitz and Rau at RB. Trust me when I say they wanted him back.

I make no comment whatsoever about Lahm's goal scoring, all I said was that he scored an incredible goal on a huge stage at 22 and emerged as one of the top fullbacks in the world in both fact and general understanding, while no one knew who Darmian was until last week.

The Von Trapps
you're saying Lahm being part of that team, or scoring goals, proves something ... I'm saying it doesn't; he was quality, and it shone through ... in terms of ability, Darmian is behind Azpi, and no one else, IMO ...

ShiftyPowers

... in terms of fullbacks who have demonstrated an ability to play on both flanks, which is not common. So if you want points for versatility, okay great, but he's still nowhere close to the top FBs in the world. Alaba isn't a worse player because he's never been asked to play RB; I'm sure he would be awesome at that position. So who is really the competition here?

Xifio

The Von Trapps
the 'Lahm' profile is that of a FB who is quality, and comfortable on both flanks ... I don't see what's complicated to understand here ...

ShiftyPowers

Make America Great Again
The thing is that you're ONLY comparing him to other FBs who have played on both flanks, not even FBs who could do it if given the opportunity. You're comparing him against like 4 other players, so it's not surprising that he's "one of the best" in that group. He is still not a top FB. I also do not understand what is so hard about this argument, but you have still failed to grasp it.

Xifio

The Von Trapps
argument? buddy, you're the one creating an argument because you don't understand the concept of a soundbite ... Darmian's profile is that of a versatile fullback ... Lahm gained prominence and made that profile his own ... the 'new Lahm' is the soundbite/headline that sums that up in a couple of words ...

you seem to think that this has something to do with me insisting on Darmian actually being the new Lahm ... I have no interest in arguing about his quality; what he is capable of is obvious for those who watch him, and isn't for those who don't ... Man Utd are willing to bank €20M that my rating of the player is the right one; I wish it wasn't them, coz their track record is crap, but there we are ...

ShiftyPowers

Make America Great Again
Even in that post where you plainly state that you are not insisting that Darmian is the new Lahm, and that it is just a "soundbite" that the stupid media is trotting out, you still have to get in at the end that "your rating of the player is the right one". What that last quote means is quite obvious: you agree with the bullshit media comparison.

When someone gets compared to Lahm I don't think "oh, his quality could be high or low, but he's definitely capable of playing on both sides!" No, I think "he is a world class FB". When someone gets compared to Schweinsteiger I don't think "he must be a winger who moved to MC" I just think "he must be a really good MC".
