FRANKFURT, Sept 22 (Reuters) - A German brewery will give away 10,000 litres of beer to fans of the first team to beat Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga this season.

Bayern have won 15 league games in a row - six out of six this season, plus their final nine on the run-in to the title last term -- and are already four points clear at the top.


'We want to create a bit of excitement,' Bitburger spokesman Dietmar Henle told Bild newspaper on Thursday. 'We've nothing against Bayern but there must be some tension.'

The beer could be claimed on Saturday when second-placed Hamburg SV host Bayern.

Bitburger will raise the offer by 1,000 litres each match until the prize has been won, Bild reported.

A brewery won't go bankrupt by giving away some thousand litres of beer. They're doing it on purpose to get some extra advertising.

i think they just give it away in or in front of the stadium.
it´s not that uncommon to give away beer for free around a footballgame.
for example the president of 1.fc nürnberg gave every spectator of the game which was an his birthday one beer and one bratwurst for free (there were around 40.000 spectators )

so 10.000 is not that much


btw: german tv presenter/singer/comedian stefan raab promised that he would give away 14.000 "mettbrötchen"

if his favourite club 1.fc köln beends bayerns winning streak in addition to the 14.000 beers, which would the fans get from bitburger
