  • This is the first final since 1978 in which the two finalists have never won the cup. The winner of this match will be the first new champion since France in 1998.
  • This will be the third World Cup final for the Netherlands (1974 & 1978).
  • Should the Netherlands avoid defeat in this game they along with New Zealand will be the only undeafeated team in this year's World Cup.
  • Should the Netherlands secure victory without a shootout, they will possess a 100% record both in qualifying and the tournament proper.

  • The winner will become the first European World Cup winner to win the Cup out of Europe, and the first since 1958 to win their first cup off home soil.

Honestly, here's my prediction:

Spain with a goal in the 2nd minute

Holland with goals in the 25th and 43rd

So i guess Spain will be the favourites, which is fine by me less pressure on the Dutch.

We apologize for keeping the yellow too long

For me, personally, Spain are a boring team to watch. They "posses" the ball 70% of the time and get one goal. They then try to blame it on Fernando Torres.

I hope that the Dutch win it.

Spain will win because they are an epic team, better then any other national team from the past or prezent.

LOL. Spain boring ? you are insane, they have the best ball circulation seen on a football team and the dutch won only from stupid involuntar goals by now, they played nothing.

Now we can finally settle the debate on who gets the title of perennial underachievers of world football.

Would like to see Holland win for all the entertainment they've delivered in past years, though they're far too reliant on Robben and Sneijder. Spain are a much more complete team, and I don't think even Del Bosque can **** it up now.

Whats wrong with Del bosque, he's doing a good job and isn't being influenced by the spanish mediatic cave. Good strategy in corners today.

This one is going to be more close to call than the Germany-Spain for sure. Once Torres was put on the bench, the Spanish had no fatigued superstars that would receive all the passes and **** 'em up.

But with this game, the Dutch might not have as hard-working of a defense as the Germans (and that's the real weakness of the Dutch), but unlike the Germans, Holland doesn't need to control the middle to score (lets face it, there is nobody in the world that can control Xavi and Iniesta). Ramos and Capdevila like to go upfront a lot and the pace of Robben down the wing with Sneijder's deadly crossfield balls could be devastating. Add Kuyt constantly challenging the ball in every part of the field possible and Van Bommel haggling and fouling opponents left and right for the full match before they even get to the ball, and we got quite an interesting game on our hands. Spain is the clear favourite, but if there is one team that could beat them that's Holland.
