We conceded 2 goals in 7 matches. I'm pretty sure we are as unstoppable as we've PROVEN to be in 2008 and 2010. In these tournaments we're 12-0-1 and haven't conceded a goal in a knockout match.

I don't mean unstoppable literally, but we're clearly the best team in the World and you are either too stubborn or too stupid to acknowledge that.

One thing that I'm starting to wonder:

van der Wiel got a strange yellow card. The ref played advantage on the foul, although Villa continued to roll around on the ground. When Spain lost possession, the ref showed VdW a yellow card even though he played advantage and didn't think the foul was bad enough to stop play. I think he even awarded a free kick for Spain.

How is that any different than the Puyol foul on Robben? Ref played advantage for Robben, Dutch lost possession, and then... no card, no stoppage, nothing. Makes you wonder. Now, I don't know if you can award a red in good conscience, but a free kick and a yellow? Yeah, probably.
That's a point for "stupid," but I have faith that you are mostly being stubborn.

As a matter of fact, I think I have admitted that Spain are the best team.

We apologize for keeping the yellow too long
Yellow Card
I was hoping to see him on the losing end but it would have been disappointing if Xabi was forced off and Spain lost. I'd have loved to see the expression on his face following a defeat. Too bad, for me, that it didn't happen. I was half asleep during extra time. Terribly boring team that won a terrible Vuvuzela Cup.

EDIT:

Ironic that Spain wins the Fair Play award when they were flopping to the ground throughout the whole tournament while waving imaginary cards.

As I mentioned (not in these exact words) in an earlier 2010 Vuvuzela Cup thread: Been going on for years now.

What a stubborn, sad man. You and Neimreitz can keep nitpicking and denying reality while the rest of the World celebrates a true champion from an outstanding tournament.

LOL. Everybody waves imaginary cards, and all teams have divers. The difference is that Spain plays so well and so clean that you need to find excuses to hate them.

Sevillista, the Spain NT is far from perfect, and the tournament was far from “outstanding”. You must stop taking all the criticism as if people are “nitpicking” or “denying reality”. Please, learn to accept other people’s opinions. Stop acting like a child (well, except if you are one...).

Where? I clicked on "Find More Posts by ShiftyPowers" and I got lost in a sea of bitching and moaning about Spain.

I never said they were perfect, and no team is. Name a country and I guarantee you could find somebody from that team diving, somebody from that team waving an imaginary yellow, etc. Cutting Spain down for doing these things after they win the World Cup is nitpicking.

Doubting Spain for only winning 1-0 against teams playing defensively and dirty, that's denying reality. We never faced a team with any offensive ambition. Why? Because everybody knows that is suicide against Spain.

And I'm sorry you didn't enjoy the tournament. I thought it was exciting, dramatic, and had many goals that will be remembered for ages. The only thing I didn't like were the god damn vuvuzelas.

Honestly, smart move by De Jong. Sends a message and you know that most refs won't send someone off in the first half of the World Cup Final.
God you're a douche. Who defends that kind of behavior?

Futbol justice has been made (Y)

After all this years and all the battles, and all the futbol that has been played.

Spain was owed this World Cup. Those boys earned it tonight, and you could see how they were united till the end.

Spain was way overdue a World Cup, for the talent and futbol treat they brought to all the world over their history.

Justice was very made. They play dirty holland out of their socks at their own game (H)

Lol you got no history except for the maybe last 3-4 years. And i told you before, it wont last long.

Okay, you may see that as nitpicking, but I (and probably others) don’t. I’m a neutral, I’m glad Spain got the title, but I agree with many of those criticisms. Most of them are valid. You may ask: why bring them up now? I reply: why not? This thread is about the final match, so people obviously talk about the teams involved – especially about the champions, of course. They’re the main subject, and people will talk whatever they feel like to about them. There’s no reason people should avoid criticise Spain.

Okay, you may think that’s denying reality, but I (and probably others) don’t. That’s because everybody sees a different reality. Stop acting like your vision is the only valid one.

Spain actually faced one offensive team, actually the most offensive team of the competition: Chile.

Incorrect. Not everybody. Many people don’t agree with that. I don’t.

I did enjoy the World Cup, I just don’t think it was “outstanding”.

Listen, the problem here is the way you (and other Spain fans) are reacting to those criticisms – not your thoughts about the team – as if people should avoid saying bad things about Spain just because they are the new champions or something.

I actually think Spain played the best football of the World Cup, but I can’t deny many of the criticisms posted here. Spain did great, but the team would be more enjoyable without diving and with more competence to score goals.

Yes, every team has players who dive, and many teams had trouble against over-defensive systems (and most of them played with a defensive approach themselves), but that does not make invalid the criticism about Spain. “But the others did it worse/as well/whatever”... Yeah, so what? If I’m talking about Spain, I don’t need to compare it to the other teams all the time.

That's a good fact. Too bad we'll have to wait until someone like you will be a WC team coach :D

More bitching and moaning about your ****ty fans and the diving of Andres Iniesta. Not really fair to put that on you actually; once again the Barca people have ruined the forum for neutrals by completely turning a lot of us who have no animosity towards Spain into full blown haters.

God you're a douche. Who defends that kind of behavior?

I'm not defending the behavior as much as I'm saying that it was a smart move in the context of the game. You know 100% that the ref will not send off a player in the first half of the World Cup Final unless one guy has deserved a straight red on 2 or 3 occasions. Spain is not very physical; their CBs are big and strong, but the for the most part the rest of the team is slight guys who don't really impose their will physically upon a game. Therefore, you risk very little in terms of getting sent off, and send a very big message that might affect the way Spain plays for the rest of the match. In that respect, it's a smart move.
