2010 FIFA World Cup Final: Netherlands v. Spain [P/R]

I actually thought the referee did a great job. If it was some other ref he would have given away red cards/penalties too soon and it would have ruined the game. I thought he let a tough game happen but he made good decisions.

If the players deserved that, they should have been carded. The game was poor overall anyway, and if red cards would make it poorer, than the ones to blame would be the violent players, not a strict referee.

I remember I said something similar after that Portugal vs. Netherlands match in World Cup 2006. There were four red cards, and for me the referee should have given even more than that. The players really deserved it.

I don't understand Iniesta.. He's such a talented player. Why all this diving and imaginary card waving?
Anyway, thank f*ck club football returns next month..

Why everyone's pointing out, spaniards' dives and no one says anything about Xavi's penalty and De Jong red card?

Please tell me you are not talking about the one where he kicks the defender (Heitinga I think) in the leg and then proceeds to kick his own (other) leg?

Also, I didn't know you converted from Romanian to Spanish (or more so, Catalan.) The bybuti syndrome?

I think the refereeing wasn't great but it was actually one of the best games of the tournament. Holland has only themselves to blame for getting 11 yellow cards, I can't remember a single incident when it wasn't a deserved card. There was some diving going on but for most part it wasn't called. And Iniesta most likely went down a little too easy on the sending off, but at the end of the day, he was through on goal and the defender tugged him back and prevented a sure one on one. That's a yellow in my books. Holland should have finished it off in regular time but didn't, while Spain took their chances.

Yeah, but how could he not see that Holland should have gotten a corner after that freekick before? And he could have blown the whistle when they tried to pass the ball before Spain scored.

That's what I was talking about. +1000 for the best joke :D

Yes that's the one I was talking about. It was a clearly intention from Heitinga and I'm pretty sure it could have been a penalty for that tackle.

And what about the nationality conversion? I was a fan of Spain for this WC just because I love their playing style (similar to Barça) and more than half of the players who entered on the pitch play for my favourite football club. Other than that I'm still a Romanian ;)

Oh btw, I hope all of those Iniesta-haters are not blaming him for the yellow card awarded to Heitinga when he could have been 1-on-1 with Stekelenburg.

Dives? Referee? Are you f**king serious? De Jong and Van Bommel should have been expulsed in the first half

By the way, a very difficult match, Robben is nearly unstoppable

Congratulations to Spain, they diserve it, i'm a Brazil and Nederlands fan, but Nederlands didn't play like how i expected them to play, they concentrate in stealing the ball without keeping in mind the consecuences of their challenges, Robben had it twice but Iker was there, Iniesta very intellgent and he never gave up!

It was a corner kick before the goal, which referee didn't conceed to the Nederland team, and after that error the goal appeared, but i'm not going to use that as an excuse!

But I must recognize, this is the only way to stop Spain current play, and if the referee let you do it...

By the way, great gesture by Holland after the match
