Looks like noone else wanted him

Was always going to be hard - to bring him in, they'd have to waive someone else.

49ers might even put him straight back in now Bush is injured long term

The Chargers season is officially over. Keenan Allen was placed on IR along with Branden Oliver.

Injuries completely killed our season. Last week versus the Raven we had 7 players total go down with injuries. The entire offensive line is a mess piling up injury after injury week after week. I know injuries are part of the game but this situation is completely out of control. No team out there has gone through what the Chargers have gone through this season with regards to injuries. This season was cursed.

Oh well, I got nothing else to say other than there's always next season. :(

What a hell of a game against the Colts. Almost ruined my day after Luck brought the colts back to tie the game and take it to overtime, but we managed to get out with a win and make it a clean 7-0.

Now it's time for the Packers, and keep proving what we are made of. The game against Seattle was a good test, and the packers game will be even better.

The Chargers get to play a Monday Night Football game with half the team hampered by injuries. This couldn't come at a worse time.

I got faith we'll close out the season not sucking so much but if worse comes to worst you bet I'll be rooting for them to loose every game the rest of the season. Gotta get that top-10 draft pick baby! (H)

Often on kicks, the returner will avoid the ball or the kicking team will just get there sooner and they'll dance around the ball and stop it at some point. Can't they palm it or kick it further down the field? I can understand being wary of the ball bouncing awkwardly but sometimes you see 4 or 5 guys around the ball on the 15 yard line and surely you can work out a way to safely push it back a few yards?

You're talking about punts, not kicks. If the kicking team touches the ball first, the ball is down where they touch it. Usually in these situations, the receiving team does not field the ball because they are worried about fumbling, or getting absolutely destroyed a second after receiving the ball (and then fumbling).

You're not allowed to kick the ball and once it hits a member of the receiving team the kicking team can recover it.

Isn't that the precise premise of an onside kick?

If the ball is placed where the kicking team touches the ball rather than takes hold of the ball then nevermind.

Kickoffs are "live" once they pass 10 yards from the spot of the kick, punts aren't live until the fielding team touches the ball.

Seems only Cam showed up in my fantasy team. Looks like I'll get my second loss all season.

I was looking like the Pats of FF for a while...

"Onside Punts" (for want of a better term) are still legal in Canadian Football, are they not?

I learned something today. I had no idea that was a thing. Canadians are so weird.

I'm assuming the punt returner was American because he looked like he had no idea and let the dude just run it in for a touchdown.

Well American (and Canadian) Football did come from Rugby originally, and you can do it in Rugby, so long as you're onside when the ball is kicked...so maybe it's the Americans that are weird :alex:

Canada retained much of the kicking from rugby, watch this.

Toronto is trying to prevent Montreal from scoring a single by kicking the ball out of the end zone.

That's really strange...

In Rugby (both League and Union) all of those players in front of their kicker are offside until the opposition touches the ball anyway - so that would have been a penalty once they got too close to the ball.

That Canadian clip Bobby posted is the weirdest football play I've ever seen. I can understand that onside rule with punting; it makes sense and it is a tricky move. It wouldn't take much to incorporate that into the NFL.

The other one, is just SO WEIRD, and then it ends with a touchdown somehow!? I could understand if it ended with a "single" or rouge or whatever, but how does that end up as a TD? So strange.
