recommended to do a clean install of fifa before installing the New 2016-17 patch:
- Uninstall + delete FIFA 11 install folder

- install fifa 11
- install ea patch (1.01)
- install 2016-17 patch (v0.5) for FIFA 11

4. apply new Squads
* Open Selector > Select database > "1. Default squads (Updated)" > ONLINE version / OFFLINE version > Apply Database
* "Done"


Notes:
- Selector dont start up (if u have .net 2.0) : copy included "Selector (.NET 2.0 version)" folder content to FIFA 11 folder
- Recommended to do a clean install : the old 2015-16 patch is NOT needed...
