70 Argentinian fans hijack buses to get to match

BUENOS AIRES, Nov 14 (Reuters) - Fans of an Argentine second division club hijacked two public buses and ordered the drivers to take them to their team's game, police said on Friday.

Police official Carlos Durante said that in two separate incidents in Buenos Aires on Thursday night, Chacarita Juniors supporters forced passengers to get off the vehicles and told the drivers to take them to the stadium where their side were playing Talleres.

"They threatened the passengers, made them get off and took over the vehicle," he told the TN cable news channel in a telephone interview, adding that some were carrying knives.

On both occasions, police patrols noticed something unusual about the buses, stopped them and arrested the fans, he said.

A total of around 70 fans were detained and two remained in custody on Friday morning, charged with possessing offensive weapons.

Argentine football suffers from chronic violence, with incidents often happening far from stadiums. Some of the most serious and least publicised trouble involves lower division sides.

Typical really. Any of you guys seen or heard what happed in Uruguay?

During a Nacional-Danuvio match the fans broke onto the field so they could show th world how infatile they are, and to beat the crap out of each other. So what did fans get out of all of this you ask, only that the season be suspended while the Uruguayan association tries to come to terms with police to protect the fans who attend to actually watch the match. So far there hasn't been an agreement...

didnt 3 fans just get shot there too? i love argentinian football. the colour, the passion, the singing but trying kill people isnt cool. i think coolio wrote a song about it.

This Argie tournament was marked early in the season when (and this is still not clear but) someone from the San Lorenzo barra brava shot and killed a Velez Sarsfield fan. There are banners that say "Justice for Emmanuel" right in the middle of the stands when Velez plays at home.
