A Guide To FIFA 12 Gameplay Sliders

The question which has cropped up the most on my Twitter timeline since FIFA 12 launched is without doubt “what gameplay slider settings are you using” and after a few weeks of testing we think we have a really good baseline that you guys can take away and modify as you see fit.

The key point to remember is that FIFA is a very personal experience and what some people like, others will hate so don’t treat these settings as gospel, simply use them as a guide to help you shape FIFA 12 the way you want it to play offline.

set it to 75 in game & go get yourself hurt & let us know, dont be afraid to test something on your own.

Unless the CPU marking slider is up in the 85-100 range, you can dribble from one end of the pitch to the other without the CPU being able to take the ball away from you, even on legendary difficulty, and even when playing against the top teams. I'm sure most people don't even realize this as the natural tendency is to pass the ball off. But try it with CPU marking at 55, it's pretty laughable. I like what EA is attempting with the non-pressing CPU play, but they went from one extreme the last few years to the other extreme this year.

EDIT: I just noticed you changed CPU marking from 55 in version 1, to 100 in version 1.1, ha!

Okay... IMO, you need a better balance with the shot error and pass error sliders. I have both set at 85 (although I may drop them down 5 points to 80 soon). Why? Because at 100 pass error, too many CPU passes go out of bounds. Also with regards to the shot error slider: the game is offensively imbalanced and over-powered. The CPU is too deadly on the offensive on legendary with open shots, corners and headers -- they're almost automatic to the point of ridiculous. Lowering pass error while raising shot error means they'll have better and more realistic play buildup without stupidly knocking it out of bounds all the time. And at the same time they won't be so unrealistically adept at scoring when they do get a shot on net.

I would also move pass speed up to at least 60. When you raise pass error, the ball slows down when the CPU passes -- that's how the programming works. Raising pass speed helps to offset that slowdown and makes CPU passes move at a more appropriate and realistic speed.

I found that I got too many severe injuries on the default levels, so upping it to 75 doesn't seem like a good idea.

One other thing - do these slider changes work with saved games or do you have to start a new career for the changes to take effect?

Legendary was too hard for me so playing in WC, doing too good so need to find a decent balance between the two so will try the settings above, thanks for posting them.
