Dont come here anymore and tell Konami doesnt promote their game. I was watching Real Madrid-Deportivo last night and it said Pro Evolution Soccer 4...15 of October...I have not seen any ad for EAs crap game...

cool never seen a PES advertising before. However EA have been advertising FIFA 2005 on the adboards of football matches for around a month now.
Atleast it is a step in the right direction though.

LOL

R.I.P. FIFA

Here lies the sorry ass of FIFA (1994-2005+)...he was a big jerk and always betrayed his best friends (a bit like me)...may we now all enjoy that this nightmare finally has ended...

meh, I'm not against FIFA as much as you guys are.. I definitely prefer PES/WE to FIFA, but I don't really care about what the game is called as long as the gameplay is good which is why I'll be getting fifa 2005 later today or tomorrow to see which is the better game

The beef we've all had with Konami in the past was that their entire marketing thrust (at least outside of Japan) sucked -- and this included advertising, promotions, sales distribution, multiple product scheduling, etc., etc.

I think we all agree, however, that things are turning around.

Konami's getting more aggressive on all fronts -- from licensing to advertising to online play.

That doesn't mean EA's going away anytime soon. Was watching Mexican footy on TV over the weekend, and there's a FIFA 2005 ad announcing that the game features the Mexican league.

We ain't gonna steal EA's market share overnight, but things should get interesting over the next couple of years in the footy space.

Everyone benefits, especially EA fans. Once they start loosing more and more customers to WE, EA gonna get better, real fast.

doubt they'll get better fast.. EA is losing a lot of it's hockey series' fans to the ESPN version, and yet, I don't think there've been significant improvements over the last couple years..

Actually, you may have a point. Nonetheless, FIFA is a top sports franchise for EA and moves a lot of product [I'd guess much more than hockey].

If FIFA market share began really suffering, changes would be made.

A long time away for that -- critical acclaim clearly goes to WE but FIFA's still making tons of money.

The ESPN/EA battle is interesting in its own right...

ea probably has a much bigger edge on konami than it does on espn..

i don't have any figures to back up my opinion, but it seems that the FIFA fanbase is much bigger than that of NHL and NBA.. I'm sure over in Japan it's all WE and PES, but everywhere else EA probably still rules supreme, although I think konami is doing better now..

btw, EA's biggest selling game is the madden series, and it's in a pretty tight battle with ESPN..

this year ESPN did a big move on EA by slashing the prices on it's games. the ESPN games this year cost almost half the amount of the EA, which is a pretty big attempt at grabbing a chunk of the EA fanbase.. we'll see what happens..

(sound off us veering way off topic)...

actually all ESPN titles are $19.99 compared to $49.99 for Madden and 39.99 for EA's NBA title. Now that's truly taking EA to battle and I hope ESPN wins -- for us gamers sake. Man is it nice to pick up the newest, quality releases such as ESPN NFL and ESPN NHL for $20.

It was a good move for ESPN. However, Madden had a record first couple of weeks nonetheless. I don't think their Madden market share suffered a bit -- ESPN may have expanded the overall market for football.

Should Konami pull a ESPN -- WE8:I or WE9:I at the $19.99 level to build sales in the U.S.? Let's not hold our breath.

19.99 and 49.99 is the price in US funds.. in Canada i think the ESPN costs 29.99 and EA 49.99.. but i'm not really sure to be honest

Konami need to STEAL leagues that FIFA has not included in thier game.

ARGENTINE LEAGUE would be perfect for WE9 seeing as FIFA has never put out that league in thier game. Just a thought
