Alan Wake

Surprised it's not here already. Alan Wake is a game by Remedy, the people who made Max Payne, and it's a "psychological thriller" that's set in a huge (and beautifully rendered) town.

It looks to be an amazing next-gen game - the graphics, rendering, physics and lighting look absolutely stunning, and knowing Remedy the gameplay'll be spot on too. I can't wait for it, but it looks like I'm going to have to spend a bit of the old student loan on a new PC to play it!

Here are some screenshots - these are real-time, rendered images and not cut scene images!

Minimum spec is a dual-core processor :o

Going to wait for the Core 2 Quads / AMD X4's before I upgrade again :D

Alan Wake has -without doubt- the best game graphics I have ever seen... This environment is amazing, and the video of AW that showed the realtime changes in enivronment according to the position of the sun in the sky.... left me speechless. (did you see that sunset??)

http://hight3ch.com/post/intel-quad-core-gaming/#more-2072

It basically shows off the capabilities of the Intel Quad-core...

Near the end of the video, a Tornado is seen dismantling a house piece by piece, and sucking it up into the air in realtime gameplay. I mean Max Payne looked incredibly beautiful for its time (and for today too btw), but this Alan Wake graphic engine has exceeded all possible expectations... Lovely.

I'm going to get it (and an upgrade of course) just for the sake of Max Payne.
With those graphics and a good gameplay.... (Y)(Y)(Y)

It's companies like Remedy that should be seeking big name franchise games... I mean EA had a lot of potential with "Superman Returns", but from the looks of its trailers, they screwed it up into "just another video game"...

Also "24: The Game", I can only imagine what Remedy could have done with this game, and all the authentic voices and names. But instead, some other company screwed this job up.

Remedy is really amazing. Max Payne was a really classy piece of work from A to Z. And now Alan Wake... I sure hope it's a megahit when released. (Although few gamers have the hardware that could handle it...)

The gfx are absolutely jaw-dropping. The most realistic and beautiful I've seen this far in a computer game! :O
But the best part is that it's coming from the people who made one of my fav pc games ever: Max Payne. (Y)

Anyone knows the release date?

Nothing confirmed yet. I assume it'll be 2007/2008 as if dual core is a minimum spec, they'll release it after quad cores come out and the new DX10 cards come out.

To get me in the mood for this, I'm playing a weird combination of Silent Hill 2 and Fahrenheit (Indigo Prophecy)

To get me in the mood I'm playing EuroMillions this week, in the vane hope of finding a financial source for the PC to play it on :D

Ah Fahrenheit!

I enjoyed that game, but those bits where you have to follow the button sequences appeared too often and got annoying. They tended to the ruin the mood I thought.
