An update?

I don't understand how this is possible, but is anyone getting a FIFA16 update? I've kept my game on the latest update for over a year so I don't know how this is possible.

i recently got a fifa 16 update aswell, i guess they still update it from time to time.

just did the update, made a backup of fifa 16 with that latest update, reinstalled the women's footbal patch, and made a backup of that aswell with the latest patch.

Well, what I've learned since is that if Origin ever sees that your FIFA install directory looks different than it should with respect to certain key folders, as what sometimes happens when you install a mod, it will think something is broken and try to update your game to fix it. I ended up losing my entire mod I had and there was no update to be made, it just wanted to fix the folders it found as wrong.
I will never ever stop railing at the day our games stopped coming on discs, independently installed from any online connection.

my fifa 16 doesn't update automaticly though, so, i guess you are right about that.

either way, i always keep backups, and when fifa 16 tries to update, i perhaps will not let it do that.

This is what I do...
1. Keep a full clean install somewhere else. I don't even like it being on the same drive and I even change the folder name in case the installer or Origin go scanning for it in their repair application. I know, probably unnecessary, but I'm picky about my folder organisation anyway.
2. Keep the different mods/FIFA install folders labelled separately FIFA16 - Women, FIFA16 - "NameofPatch", and only keep the name to the default for the one I play most often. Two mods is nothing. I've got older PC hockey and baseball games where I have 3 or 4 different mods installed and keep all four at one time.
3. Especially for a game like 16, just keep Origin off. But that's easy for me as I do absolutely NOTHING online in video games. Not even on consoles.

pretty much what i did, and i also don't play online, fully focusing on the women's football patch now, and even running my own fictional women's world cup 2019.

i leave origin on, annd for me apparently, i doesn't automaticly update or fix fifa 16, i have to manually do it, which will not happen. :p

REALLY looking forward to the new Women's patch to get Man United in WSL2. How did you set up the World Cup, do you have recent national team squads?

for every first game, i leave everything as it is, no squad changes, no change in tactics or formations, everything on default as it came in the patch.

i am doing a long one, and currently playing the so called qualifiers, i'm doing a long term world cup thing, even my match lenght is set to a real full 90 minutes.

however, after that change, i've seen some issues, primarily with the goal keeper and defence, goal keepers reaction on the default 50 is awfull, and since that 90 minute change, games just spiral out of normal proportions way too soon, even with teams that are stat wise on par with each other.

tested out some new settings, running and acceleration on 46, goalkeeper ability on 75 (and that helps alot as the reaction is much better, before, the reaction time was a disaster.) and also upped the defensive abilities from 50 to 60.

with those new settings, i will redo 1 match, as my czech republic vs costa rica game on default settings was just a game that for me is not convincing enough.

While both those teams are also quite on par, czech republic scored 6 times, vonkova aswell as kozarova scored hattricks, now that is just too good to be true.

tested the first half with those new settings with czech republic vs slovakia, and that became a 2-2, which for teams that are on par again, is alot better.

the main issue with standard settings, goals and games were already decided way too early, goalkeeper unable to parry/block shots i feel should be able to block/parry, and goals happening with a very low time margin in between them.

I hope the new settings will make it so that goals happen when the attack is really good, and prevent games and scores like the czech republic costa rica one. :D

Really interesting but a bit confused.
What I was asking was how do you go about physically making a World Cup in the game into a tournament? Or do you just play exhibition matches and keep track of results? And also whether you know of any updated national squads.

I'm not quite getting what the point of all the testing is? So you're only playing to test results and realism? Sorry, I'm confused.

I'm shocked that you play a full 90 minutes. If I played a full 90 minutes my games would end 32-28 or something. Furthermore, I'd argue that the game's slightly unrealistic pace that works fine in the confines of a video game doesn't lend itself well to a full 90 minute lifelike representation. But that being said I've never tried.

i do friendly matches, and keep track of the results etc.

Well, it indeed doesn't adapt very well, that is true, but adjusting the settings a bit, can help to slow it down, haven't gotten 12-0 yet, but i'd say at the same time that results such as 3-3 are also a thing, and sometimes more common in female soccer, or crazy results such as 12-0 (i think the female USA team had a 12-0 one time)

although, i am considering on making the game run for a time between it's original 20 min per half, and my current 45 minute per half, as that would most like drag it back in a more balanced state.

the most important thing with AI games though, is putting up the GK ability, if you put this below 50 on world class, i'd say something ridicilous as 20-0 can happen as the AI on that difficulty is very good with attacks, giving it 80, makes goals look legit, rather then looking the GK had trouble with a really cheap shot.

some of the best examples i can give, is that i've noticed while it's true that GK on 80 will stop alot more balls, it's also true that they will make risky moves and become more prone aswell to legit misplays and miscalculations, GK ability on 50 also seems to mean that GK's simply won't move out of their box, while a GK on 80 will come out of their goal much further if for example, a long pass lands their way while no opponent strikers are near, or team defenders to catch the on the ball, since i've changed that, the AI really switched from sluggish goals, to actual goals coming out of good attacks, or GK's making legit error's like a real GK does.
