Animal Experimentation

As a former mouse-abuser, I can assure you that although a researcher can go through 2000 mice easily in a year, it doesn't affect the food-chain one bit.

I'm one of those tree-hugger types, but had no problem giving mice cancer to research a cancer vaccine.

Killing them at the end of the experiment though, even the control mice that had nothing done to them, that's an entirely different story...

I'm sitting a class discussing Animal Welfare/Animal Rights.

Exciting stuff right here...:|

Especially the video of the monkey being shocked and then gassed to see how long he can balance. You stay classy, human race.

This just after my midterm on the Armenian GENOCIDE and the Holocaust.

I think I will go shoot myself now.

I'm currently on a course in US Environmental History, and it really is amazing what human arrogance does to nature and animals in general.

Some of the posts in this thread are just a small example of mankind's overall narrowmindedness and ignorance concerning our relationship to nature.

My ex-girlfriend is on a terrorist watchlist because she's an animal rights activist <3.

I won't use any products or medicine tested on animals even if it could cure me of clinical depression, orthostatic hypotension, or hypermobility. I'd rather keep my soul.

That's just me personally though.

Personally I would never buy any goods that haven't been tested on animals. How do I know that that I can trust my deodorant without it knowing how it reacts when sprayed in a hare's eyes? It's a risk frankly not worth taking.

Rob's point on privatizing endangered species is a superb one which sadly won't get the credit it deserves because of how unusual it sounds.

Don't do that crap, Bobby.

There are few things more annoying than the self-righteousness of activists.

Got such a big problem, go to a farm and grow your own food.

I, personally, was Green (big G) before "Go green". I don't force my beliefs on anyone, seriously. In fact, I'm in love with my best friend who just so happens to be an evangelical conservative.

I do consider myself an environmentalist, but it goes against my ideals to force my beliefs on someone. If someone asks my advice, sure, I'll offer it. But I'm not going to jump down someone's throat for wasting resources. With that said, I will defend myself if someone passes judgment on me, and I have a God given right to.

Animal cruelty is not the same as eating animals. Certain religions even prescribe ways of killing animals to make it quick without causing pain.
