I agree with what the thread starter was saying, when i bought my first fifa game for PC (fifa 04) that was because i couldn't be bothered to spend £200 on a brand new PS2, although i did buy one about 6 months later when the price dropped, but i realised that at that time, the PC blew away all the consoles on the market. I have bought only PC versions of Fifa since, simply because of the versatility of the PC.
A few examples:
1. If you don't like the music in the menu's/wanna listen during the game, you can simply load up a media player and play your tracks, recently i've taken to listening to international cricket over the internet whilst playing fifa.
2. If the graphics are rubbish you can simply upgrade your graphics card, with a console you have to wait for the next gen/ buy a rival console.
3. If the kits are outdated/unofficial you can update them and edit almost every aspect of the game, you can't with a console.
The main problem for me is that EA are investing big money in the next gen consoles, when really they are not selling well at all, sony have announced huge price cuts with the PS3 in America, whilst us europeans get extra rubbishy games for the same price, and i'm not really sure about Sony's claims that the PS3 is some sort of media centre for everything (internet DVD's Games Music TV etc.) because of the DVD format war going on.
I hope EA come to their senses and realise that they are taking big risks by doing this and when Fifa 09 comes around I hope to see a major effort by EA on the PC version, because at the moment I think they are putting more effort into the PSP, DS and mobile phone versions of the game, which frankly are crap!
