does it really ... that does make it a little difficult, yes ...

Arnau has summed it up perfectly with regards to players who Barcelona have bought ... and Titi's success was a relative success, while the others flopped ... and the sum paid for Petit+Overmars was just moronic -- but again, this was a time when Gaspart was splashing out BIG sums on players like Geovanni and Rochemback ... so I don't think you can claim that Barcelona owes Arsenal any favours in terms of success gotten from buying players from you guys ...

Didn't say anything about our players giving your team success, my point was on the unsettling. However I will concede your previous methods were not as bad as the Anelka and Reyes saga.

and I say continued disrespect because the way Cesc was stolen did not impress me ... there was no apology for it ... and demanding exorbitant sums for his sale now does not impress me due to the way he was acquired in the first place ...

Apology? Stolen? A compensation fee was given plus Gio van Bronckhorst was given for free (...and it was said that none of our players were part of your success :)). Cesc was 15 like Gerard when he left, they both rejected offers to stay at the Camp Nou because they felt it was best for their careers.

Arsenal have always prided themselves on being a team of young players, but it is amazing how the Arsenal academy has produced none of the youngsters to have made an impact in recent years ...

I hate to use his name to make a positive point on anything but surely A*hley C*le has to count for something. Besides the youth project is still that...a project. Next (this) season should see at least three player from the academy make the first team.

I wonder why Francesc sign till 2014 if he wanted to leave before. Nigerianmiracle cesc was stolen, Barça couldn't make anything to keep him! English teams steal young players in the final phase of his formation, btw he was 16. I can assure you Wenger's vultures are always flying around "la masia" trying get some wonderkid.

If it can be proven that we somehow broke the rules of the transfer market to buy Fabregas then we should apologize and Barca fans have every right to complain. But so far it has not been proven that we've broken any rules of the transfer market, so Barca fans have no right to complain to us. Barca fans might disagree with the rules and want to be able to protect their young talents more, that's fine, but that's a disagreement with the rules, not us "stealing" him.

Saying that Fabregas was "stolen" is stupid. Do you think Wenger caught him, tied him and forced him to sign for Arsenal? No! It was Fabregas' decision to sign for Arsenal for ****'s sake! It's not called "stolen" since both Arsene AND Fabregas decided to make this deal go through.

Instead of blaming Arsenal for "stealing" Fabregas, you should blame Fabregas for signing with them.

His point is that the deal did not include Barcelona's consent.

ah, ok ... well, I personally don't give much weight to the "unsettling" argument ... you don't hear about Real Madrid players getting "unsettled" because of interest from Arsenal, do you? if you are not a selling club, then you are a destination club, and part of the "big time" ... big clubs will win trophies with unceasing regularity, and will be serious contenders for every trophy they compete for ... their players need no extra convincing on why they should stay at the club ... if that's not the case with your club, then guess what kind club you are? yeah ... don't mean to be rude, but that's just how things work ...

I think the talk of "unsettling players" is irrelevant in Cesc's case, though ... his intention, as he says it, was always to return home when/if he became good enough ...

Gio was bit-part, though he did play his part ... I guess we could chuck Sylvinho into the equation too, though he took a detour on his route from Highbury to Camp Nou ... another bit-part contribution, but worthy of merit nonetheless ...

that's exactly the point ... there were no "offers" to stay with Barcelona because there could not have been; players in Spain cannot be offered a contract until they turn 18, but that is not the case with England, where kids living in catchment areas can be offered terms ... that is why the whole concept of "stole" came in, because there was no way Barcelona could "offer terms" like you guys had ...

yeah, Cashley counts for 1 ... the next successful youth product is who? David Bentley? and Wenger isn't really bothering Arsenal with an Ajax-like model -- you know how they set up Ajax academies around the world, so that those various areas develop footballers, and any who are considered talented make the jump to the academy in Amsterdam ... that's how Benni McCarthy and Steven Pienaar went from Ajax Cape Town to Ajax Amsterdam ...

who do you see who is quality, who was not nabbed from another club or academy at the age of 15/16, and who is ready to make the step up from the academy soon? I know Carlos Wilshere, and he could be good ... and I know Sanchez Watt's story, though I don't really know how good he will be ... then there's Jay Simpson I guess ... Craig Eastmond ... Luke Freeman came from somewhere at age 16/17 ... and I can't think of anyone else ...

well, i hold those around him responsible too; difficult to expect a 16-year-old to resist Wenger pouring honey into his ear -- with promise of first-team action tout de suite ... so, I maintain that he was poached as he approached his graduation age, but Arsenal were abetted by Barcelona's cantera coaching staff failing to persuade him to stay ...

**** happens, teams always lose players for free or small fees and then regret after the player becomes good. The difference here is that it was a very young player and that it happened to Barca's annoying fan base.

Why did they need Barcelona's consent?? He had not signed any contract with Barcelona yet...

Well, Wenger approached Fabregas with a proposal to offer him a contract. Wenger might have persuaded him, but at the end of the day, it was Fabregas & family's decision to sign for Arsenal. You can't blame Wenger or Arsenal for pursuading him to join them... I understand that Fabregas was young, but as you said, those around him (his father) have played a big part in this decision. Things like this happen. At that time he was unsure of whether he would be able to break into Barcelona's first team, thats why he couldn't resist Arsene's proposal. Maybe he thought that this chance would never come again.

Great news for Aaron Ramsey he's just signed a new deal with the club!
Hope he's able to recover and put on an Arsenal shirt next season.
Theo's reportedly out of the England squad, sad/ironic (for him) when you consider that Stuart Pearce putting him on the U21 squad was partly to blame for his poor form in 2009-10.
