He would have been damn useful for Arsenal next season especially. I dont know for how long Flamini and Fabregas can handle first team football every other weekend.

Gilberto will be fit come next season, then Flamster and Cesc will be given an appropriate amount of play. There shouldn't be much risk of burn-out.

Hill-Wood assures Bergy

http://skysports.planetfootball.com/article.asp?id=277503

Arsenal chairman Peter Hill-Wood says Dennis Bergkamp can rest assured that he will be offered a new deal in the summer.

The gifted Dutchman is in the final weeks of his contract and has yet to be offered fresh terms from the Highbury paymasters.

Bergkamp said recently that he would head off into the sunset should The Gunners not hand him an extra season in The Premiership, but it would appear as if the former Ajax man will get the chance to play on for one more campaign.

"Arsene would like to keep Dennis and I am sure we can come to an arrangement with him," Hill-Wood told The Daily Star.

Hill-Wood feels money is unlikely to be an issue when the parties enter into negotiations.

"Dennis is very satisfied financially," added Hill-Wood. "So that's not a problem.

"You have to be fairly ruthless with who you think are getting beyond their useful life. You can't be sentimental and say that because a player's given such great service, we ought to give him another contract.

"You give a player another contract because he's worth giving a contract to - and Arsene obviously still feels that way about Dennis."

I really don't think it was ever in any doubt that he would get another year, just AW trying to fire him up. (6)

LOL...The only way spurs can have a chance of getting in to europe is through our good behaviour and league position...

Spurs in contention for Euro spot

Tottenham could be playing European football next season after finishing second to Arsenal in the Premier League Fair Play rankings.

The Gunners have already qualified for the Champions League so Spurs will go into the hat to win one of two Uefa Cup spots for the 2005/6 competition.

Martin Jol's side will find out their fate when the draw is made on 5 June.

"We wish Tottenham well in securing a UEFA Cup place through the draw," said Premier League boss Richard Scudamore.

Arsenal will receive £30,000 for being the Premiership's most sporting team.

Arsenal, meanwhile, will receive £30,000 prize money for being the most sporting team for the second successive year, justifying Arsène Wenger's claim earlier in the season that statistics showed his men were far from ill-disciplined.

We apologize for keeping the yellow too long
Yellow Card
According to the latest news from the BBC, Ashley Cole wants his WEEKLY SALARY TRIPLED from the 27,000 he is making right now. That seems a bit too much of an increase although he is a good defender but I don' t know if 3 times is appropriate.

Who would you want if Ash went?
I'd have to have someone in rotation with Gael.

I'd go personally with Leandro Cufré or Zdenek Grygera.

Giorgio Chiellini if Ash goes, he is simular in that he will be more effective attacking than defending but still a good defender, only problem is that he might cost a bit because he is owned by Juve but on loan at Fiorentina.

i'd say riise for ash's place...only thing is that he's enjoying to play a bit more in the midfield...but i love that guy
Yeah so do I, I think he's great.
Grygera is simillar to him, but scores more often.
Plus he's right-sided.

Giorgio Chiellini is half owned by Juventus and Fiorentina just to make clear, and I doubt he'd leave Itaky anyways. Also Riise is not very likely since he wouldn't want to be rotated with Clichy when he can start week in and out at Liverpool. If Cole really WAS to leave, then I'd go after Reto Ziegler or Monaco's Patrice Evra.
