Milan is one of the most successful clubs in Italy, having won a total of 29 major trophies, and was the most successful club in the world in terms of international trophies until February 2014, when Al Ahly SC claimed that title.[56][57] It is now the second most successful club, together with Real Madrid, Barcelona and Boca Juniors,[58] with a record of fourteen European trophies and four world titles. Milan has earned the right to place a star on its jersey in recognition of the fact that it has won at least ten scudetti. AC Milan unveils grand plans for new stadium​

In the style capital of the world, AC Milan is looking to make a $340 million statement.

The famed football club, seven-time champions of Europe and 18-time Italian champions, has unveiled plans to build a new stadium in the Portello area of the city with the aim of relocating in time for the start of the 2018-19 season.

Italian clubs are looking to follow the example of Juventus, which opened its own super arena in 2011 on the site of the old Stadio delle Alpi. Roma also has a plans for a new stadium, while Udinese is currently renovating the Friuli stadium.

Milan's move would see the Rossoneri leave the Giuseppe Meazza Stadium it has shared with fierce rivals Inter since 1947.

Design firm Arup is behind the proposed 48,000-seater stadium, which will be sunk 10 meters into the ground so as not to overly disrupt the landscape of the area.

Arup were behind Bayern Munich's Allianz Arena and the Bird's Nest stadium in Beijing, built for the 2008 Olympic Games.

A statement released on Milan's website also claimed the stadium would use the "latest technology and sound-proof materials" to minimize the noise heard in the surrounding areas.

And today, 07/07/2015 The AC MILAN Stadium proyect was selected by Fondazione Fiera Milano to be raised near the club Quartiere, CASA MILAN.

Now the city council have to approve the proyect and give the permissions to begin the works.

Barbara Berlusconi is the visible head of the proyect, She believes that the club will receive between 50 and 80 Million of revenue from the new Stadium to buy new players every year.

San Siro is owned by city council, cant be exploted 24/7 365 days a year, also Inter want to develop their own proyect in the Meazza. Today anual revenue is about 20ME

We are following Juventus path with the stadium, smaller but full of skybox, services and more important, the club will be the owner of the Arena.

No, not at all. First of all, attendance is a problem in Italy, so this should ensure a much better atmosphere. Secondly, the step up to a modern stadium should increase revenue a huge amount, just like it did for Juventus when they built a smaller, but modern, stadium. Matchday income is heavily based on luxury boxes; it's why Arsenal make so much money.
