Best FIFA ever?

I think so. I know this sounds quite unbelievable but there really is so much freedom in the play, you can score some superb team goals, as I've just experienced as Portugal. It really feels like a completely different game, and, from the playing camera, looks completely different too.

I know the cpu play is pretty similar and probably the weakest part of the game, but I'm really really enjoying it more than I've enjoyed a FIFA game for longer than I can remember. The general AI of players is greatly improved and the shooting model seems to be close to how it should be.

I've just came out from a 0-0 half against England despite mainly dominating yet lacking the finishing. I did some amazing play..ending with a diving header that rolled agonozingly past the post. (In previous FIFAs that would have gone in a scripted route - yet this time I felt like I had missed it - It felt as though it was actually my fault that I missed, not the CPU's script)

Lovin it, have really high hopes for Fifa 2005 now! (H) :hump:

At first I hated the game and thought it was utter crap but now I'm obsessed with it. You can no longer use the skill button and run straight down the field and blast shots and always score. You have to lob the ball, play on the wings, use a playmaker effectively, make through passes, and use the OTB feature to send players on runs to score. I've never scored so many different types of goals in my life while playing an EA game :rockman:

I'm impressed, fantastic stuff.

Hopefully FIFA 2005 can keep the good stuff and touch up a little on things to create an even better game:rockman:

Nope, that would be Fifa 98 RTWC. Best ever. Until the day tha EA has another game with every national team and the World Cup qualifying, it will always be the best.

Don't forget the actual WC that was included, unlike FIFA 2002. Penalty shootouts, indoor games, lunge tackles, and the many things removed from future versions make it the best one.

I agree whit you guys FIFA RTWC 98 was the best. Although I have to say that FIFA 97 was brilliant as well.

EURO 2004 is a decent game but its nothing compared whit PES3. Remember that FIFA 2005 will come out when PES4 is released so Konami will be another big step ahead of EA sports.
