You made a post earlier in this thread that leads me to believe you are irritated by Americans and our "the world revolves around us" attitude.
Haha, that's right. But I think it frustrates and amazes me more than anything. I really appreciate Americans who are worldly and understand the world doesn't revolve around them - I think it's much harder to accomplish that in America than elsewhere (due to the education system, media etc all revolving around the US and only the US).
Regarding the INXS thing, yeah that was the one I meant. It was a local production here - hence it looking like a B movie. Had a few local stars - Samantha Jade, the chick who played Kylie was the winner of the X Factor here two years ago. She is hot. But damn she looks like Kylie in that show!
Australians generally have a very bad case of tall poppy syndrome. We love cutting down anyone who is too successful. Back when the Australian Cricket team dominated the world sport like no one before (they won some prestigious world sporting team of the year award ahead of Ferrari F1 back when Schumie was dominating), there were loads of fans who didn't support them because "it was boring" and "they won too much". INXS would have been a case of that. Australian's would have perceived them as arrogant, and forgetting their roots.
Actually, that almost brings me full circle, as to why Australians get annoyed by Americans. The see it as a bit arrogant that they often seem to the consider the US asthe world, and not see the bigger picture.
