Building new stadiums?

So whats the next step here? I am testing all the stadiums in this stadium pack and checking which ones work and which ones don't, which stadiums need a texture update etc.

Is anyone willing to find out the original owners of these stadiums so that we may give them credit. Also is there anyone willing to update these stadiums. We could also start a Stadium Index like the ones in FIFA 07 and 08 forums once we get somewhere with the updates.

Can anyone here help me, this patch seems to work only when it finds the FIFA 09 main folder, i don´t have it, can anyone here extract its content to a folder, compress it and upload it to any server. I know it sounds like a lot of work, but any help on this matter would be very much apreciated.

Well i already tried that, but without a fifa 09 installed, there is no record in the registry and therefore no way to extract the content of the patch.

Any help would be useful.

You could try installing the FIFA 09 Demo and then try installing this stadium patch.

Other than this i cant think of any way you could extract the stadiums, as the installer looks for the registry entry of FIFA 09 I guess.

Maybe there´s a chance to enter this fifa 09 entry in windows xp registry, but i don´t know how if anyone knows of a way to do this please let me know, and wwwescape, thanks, this could be the solution mate.

Did you allow the installation to complete? After the end of the installer there is an MS-DOS command prompt window which imports the stadium files into the zdata_XX.big files.

Run the installer again and let the MS-DOS command prompt window complete its importing.

This should help solve your problem.

We are just thinking of updating the stadiums as massive stadium patch, if we could get proper permissions. Could you help getting permissions for these stadiums and could you gather around enough people to help us update the stadium textures to the current season.

Is it possible to add FIFA 07 stadiums to FIFA 09. I have alot of them and was thinking to start another Stadium Download Index for FIFA 09, once Rinaldo's CM09 is out, this time with every stadium that can be put into FIFA 09, all updated though.

BTW, your RTWC 2010 patch is looking great. Could you spare the stadiums you're converting there to the Stadium Download Index maybe.

Some of the new stadiums that I have there are from the Download index from 07 anyway. For example: Argentina's El Monumental, Brazil's Maracana and Uruguay's Centenario; I got them directly from the 07 Download Index! There's absolutely no difference between 07, 08 or 09 stadiums.

I can't really help with permissions, I'm really busy with my RTWC patch, but also, in all honesty, some makers might not even be around anymore. I think you can let it slide for those that don't respond to you. But always make an effort to contact everyone so that they are aware of your intentions. And always put the author's name the credits for EVERYTHING! Irrespective whether or not they green-light a stad's usage; by putting their name in - you acknowledge that it's not your work. People are really wary of plagiarism these days, so by taking the effort to put their name in, they'll appreciate your efforts more than if you don't.

As for updating textures for this season. it depends again if you get in touch with the original stadmakers. I'm really bad at texture making so I wouldn't be of any help. Just a word of advice; Updating textures means changing them in the model in Rhino, which involves having to reconvert the parts that are affected. With new textures, you can sometimes get away with just copying over the old textures; but most of the time you have to reconvert the model in order for it to recognize them. It's a hard job and not something I think the stad-makers would want to do.

Maybe another question would be if someone could explain how to remove turf textures in the .fsh files having in mind that many built stadiums have them and fifa 09 doesn´t handle very well this playgrounds. I read someone here did it but i don´t remember now who.

In that case you dont remove the tetures, you have to remove the parts of the model that use the textures.

Export the stadium to an .oif file with OIFTool, open up that file with zmodeler, then reimport the .oif file to the o and retain all parts, then simply select the parts which use the grass texture and empty them, then export

The models even for stadiums already in game are CG-specificatons only. Resizing it would mean having to rebuild the stadium from scratch. It's impossible to do, and for the effect you want it's not possible under CG limitations. Just be happy with what you've got already ingame! xD

And what about editing the generic stadiums? All of them looks like you are playing in the middle of forest/mountains. Maybe adding some city backgrounds and also change the textures to better and realistic ones. There are plenty of possibilities.

Fair enough, during the game, it doesn't really matter, but the shots from corners and goal kicks make the ground look so much bigger on PS3!

There isn't actually anything wrong with the size of the pitch, despite what some people on EA forum are saying: PC pitch:

but, for some reason, when you get a corner on the PC version, the ground looks much smaller than the PS3 version. PC version of a corner kick:

Note as well the size of the adboards in PC version; they come up to well over waist height as you'll see if you run a player close to them. In real life, they only come up to around knee height, as you can see by looking at the photographers (where are they in PC version) in the PS3 shot.

However, with a wide angle shot, the PC version stadium looks vast, just like the PS3 version:

Is there any way to enable that kind of wide angle shot when taking corners or goal kicks, some kind of value that can be edited in a cfg file, or ini file?
Also, I'd like to test the game with DoF enabled during normal gameplay, not just during cutscenes, just to see what it looks like.

Another thing: It's all well and good to say be happy with what we've got in game, but why should we when it looks so much better on PS3? The PC is easily capable of such spectacular shots, just look at PES! I'm not saying I don't love the game; I do. Just that it should look so much better!
