Corinthians forward Carlos Tevez has been fined by his club after attending a Sao Paulo press conference wearing a Manchester United shirt.

The Argentina international will have to pay 20% of his monthly wage - around £13,000 - after turning up to face the press in the offending garment last week.

When asked why he wore the shirt, Tevez explained that he was given it by his sponsors.

'I wear what Nike give me, without any problems,' he said.

After being continually questioned about the shirt Tevez then removed it.

'Are you happy now?' he asked a journalist who had been questioning him.

:lui:

hahaha... what a classy doofus act by Tevez. "I wear what Nike give me, without any problems", hahahahahaha.

apparently our marketing is sensational even in South America. :)
if you consider those shady looking guys at the entrance of stadiums "marketing staff", then you're right... because Tevez's must be the only licensed Man U merchandise in Brazil... even though it's relatively easy to spot Man U shirts around (even my bro has one...)

I think of Tevez at West Ham, get all giddy, slap myself and get back to reality. No to Joorabchian.
I'd only advise a take over by a suspect company if it was the last resort, like it was in Corinthians' situation.... they either accepted the offer or they'd end up in obscurity for at least the next 5 years with the situation deteriorating by then.. if West Ham can keep the things going, then I guess they don't need MSI... (or Tevez... or Mascherano... ok, just kidding!)

You'd think that maybe he would have thought this might have raised some eye brows.....but since there's not really alot of pics it must have been a pretty ****ty press conference......maybe he thought he just got signed by MANU...I don't think he has alot goin on upstairs.

Its so stupid that fine of U$S 20000...

United is a team from another continent...

Im on Tevez side this time...

Robinho said a lot of times that he wanted to play in Madrid while playing in Santos...

According to Corinthians, the fine would be the same if he wore any club's shirt...Of course wearing Man U colours isn't going to affect his reputation with the supporters, so it's ok I guess... it'd be a lot different if he wore something like Bambi's shirt...

my view: if you're at a club, you're supposed to at least respect it while at the club's press conference... if he sleeps in his Man U underwear, I don't care...

I don't really see the big issue here. Sure he wore Man U's shirt, so what? It's not like he wore another Brazilian clubs shirt, or a shirt that bashed Corinthians. Vilifying him for his actions would have been enough, fining him is ridiculous.
