CD Cleaning.

I'm having trouble playing one of my music CDs on my computer ... it seems like my computer isn't reading it. The CD is pretty battered and bruised, as it's really old, but it works perfectly fine on my stereo. What are some CD cleaning remedies?

Its usually the other way round for me. When my cd's get too banged up to play on my stereo i just burn another copy. Maybe its your cd drive thats having burnout.

try using alcohol(not 2 much) and put it on a piece of cloth, once this is done then clean the back side of the disk with the cloth.

Note:do not clean the back side in a round symmetry as this might spoil the disk even more.

There are products you can buy in order to clean both your drive and the CD. Even if the CD is as clean as it can be i have noticed, after using that cleaner, scratched CD's having better readability. Its a some short of liquid thing (no idea what it actualy is made of)

Pledge (furniture wax) . fills up the scratches instead of buffing them out.

clean the disk well before using the car wax. use a damp cloth and start from the centre. Do NOT wipe it like you would wipe a dinner plate. The circular motion will ruin it further.

Apply the Pledge with a lint-free cloth

I just used Pledge Bathroom Cleaner instead because that's all I've got, but alas, nothing. There's alcohol in my parents' bathroom, but they're asleep, so I'll try that method later. Thanks for the suggestions.
