Interista13: LOL. Roma true fighers. What the hell. The game at Alvalade XXI was the game that I saw a team doin' nothing...absolutely NOTHING to scrap a draw or win out of there and got a draw. That's was Roma. Sporting just did the best match in years (yeah, it was even better than Newcastle one for UEFA Cup 3 years ago) and bad luck and bad ref totally threw us out of the CL. Things could really be different from that.
Not that I have reserves for Roma, but playing like that, they won't have a chance against Real. Their defense may be crappy, but their attack is godly.

Alright I am getting kind of tired of all the Real Madrid bashing here; not all of you but some of you....First of all, our defense has not had the same starters all season except for the last three games in a row, thus our defensive record has improved since. We are the second least scored on team in La liga thought I doubt any of you knew that. I will admit that our defense has allowed some comical goals, but all of you are refering specifically to three games, Against Olympiakos in madrid, against Lazio in Italy and against Werder Bremen in Germany where we historically have sucked. Also do not forget about Iker Casillas, he alone will account for two to three goals blocked a game IMO the second best in the world bettered only by Buffon....Our attack as someone mentioned is lethal, as of right now the most scoring pair in Europe; if you add Robihno then the most scoring trio in all europe by a mile....I believe Roma are too inconsistent (as of right now) to be able to get two good results against us in sepparate dates. Plus, playing in Santiago Bernabeu we have not lost a game since May of this year and won 10 in a row....so while Roma are good enough for the upset for the life of me I cannot understand how some of you pick Roma over Real so readily....but whatever that's what the forum is for right ?

Infact you could argue that Liverpool and even Chelsea may have been better(over the entire tournament) than Milan. The best team in Europe will not win the CL. For that to happen, THAT team would also have to win its domenstic league and THAT hasn't happened since 2004.... and you could argue that even that team was not the best in Europe at the time. You may have to go all the way back to 2001 to track down the last time THAT happened.

LOL, yeah I was looking beyond the recent past. Sorry for the confusion, overall though my point is that it won't happen year and the tournament probably won;t live up to is name.

Back in the day when the actual champions in each country qualified and nobody else it didn't matter if the team won the league the same year they won the European Champions Cup, they had won their league the season before so they deserved to be there to compete for the championship of the continent since they had won the championship in their country.

Best team this year so far - hurt to admit, but Arsenal. ManUntd and Inter take the second spot. All other teams are left behind. Barca are so sadly out of form, Real are performing so-so, as of Milan - they are ridiculous in Serie A, especially at home. Chelsea managed NOT to beat Aston Villa twice now ( a 4-4 at Stmaford Bridge today 
), and Liverpool are fragile in the EPL too.. So they're not top-form now too.
Other italian (Roma, Juve), german, as well as spanish clubs are far from the truth anyway.
