Hey guys, I'm a new player... about 15 games into my fifa career...and things are going well, Ive won about a quarter of my games. Tied another quarter. I really enjoying this game. I posted on this forum last week asking for some guidance as to what to do first to get better and thanks to you, Javyol for your input.
I've started using Chelsea in the online league (forgot what it's called... the one where you start at division one and the servers search for an appropriate opponent for you) and am enjoying playing with them. I've taken the suggestions of sooo many forums and adopted the 4-2-3-1 formation for my early matches and it works well. It seems like a good balance between being offensive and defensive. One of the things that I love about this game is that I can take Chelsea (not the "best team") and play in a way that accents their strengths and beat the barca and milan and the manchesters of the world...
I want to keep progressing and learn with one team so that I learn how to manage and maximize while I learn to the play the game (actually still learning all the buttons as I hadn't touched a gamepad in years) and so in efforts to know all I can know about Chelsea: I have a couple of questions... first: what are your opinions of chelsea, any specifics that just "click" with Chelsea? Bench players that MUST play? Just generally, what's the scoop?
My evaluation of Chelsea is that they're a deep team with talent everywhere but not any one dynamic superstar. Drogba and Lampard are certainly the big names and are good players that I can depend on.... however I've gotten less production from those 2 and most of my production from Sturrridge, Torres and Mata. Drogba is after those 4 and then Essien (which is on the bench default)has been great as has Bosingwa in Defense (and I was subbing him out for Luiz a lot!!!). The team has only 1 starter under 80 (meireles) and can be replaced by any of 4 or 5 players on bench (with over 80 rank) that can step into the midfield. I often throw Essien in there and the odd men out are Mikel, Malouda, Kalou and Luiz in defense. They end up not seeing the pitch.
I will typically bring in 2 or 3 of the strong bench players midway thru the 2nd half to give us a jumpstart if fatigue is setting in.
So, any combo of players work for you? I use Mata as the 1 striker and the 3 forwards behind him are drogba, Torres and Lampard. I've never been able to get a thing out of lampard but Torres and drogba have done pretty well for me. I'm not a great shooter yet (working on it) so Lampard will have his day when I begin to dial in longer shots... I'm sure of it. Right now, Sturridge is the odd man out.. he was getting pulled every game as Torres comes in or he's just benched the entire game... Then I gave him a chance and he puts in a great goal and made many nice runs with his speed.... (I think speed has helped out the most early in my seasons... but i'm getting better at ball handling and maybe some of their other skills will start to show themselves).
2nd question: Any Other formations that may be a bit more aggressive or controlling in the midfield and in their third? I typically have an easier time getting to their third using quick one touch passing and then thru balls to torres or Mata/dragba. and then a terribly tough time getting off quality shots due to lack of skill crossing etc...
Few other questions about this online league/division setup... when can i change teams? After the 10 game season.... Do players abilities fluctuate thru the season?
Can I save the default formation in custom tactics area that will also apply to the online use of that team? I'm changing the lineup and formation EVERY time I go to begin a game just before I search for an opponent.
Thanks for your time and opinions...
