I think this is a really cool tournament, it's too bad nobody cares about it. I'm looking forward to those semi-final matches.

I care about it, but can't watch it because I'm at school when matches start.:(

Boca J. are in the final(H)

Washington of Urawa is a good player, I've watched him since he was at Tokyo Verdy and almost kept them up singlehandedly.

I was disgusted to learn the way he was treated by Fener when he had his heart condition. They just released him. To really put it into perspective compare it to the way Inter made sure Kanu was in the best of hands and nursed him through his recovery.

He's quick for a big man, and really powerful, built like a tank (goes about 6'3", 200). He's signed a pre-contract with Fluminense apparently.

Don't be shocked if Urawa trip up Milan. They can't match Milan talent wise but they're extremely well drilled and have some of the best support in the world.

Help?

Fan Favourite
I'm sure Boca Juniors will win it. Out of all the teams that's left, nobody is as good as them.

I wouldn't be surprised at all if Urawa won that match, they've looked very good so far. Milan will have to take this tournament very seriously.

Boca looked like crap against that Tunisian team, they better raise their game up if they want to win it all.

Bobby and Alex, I third the motion. AC Milan better be on upset alert when they take on Urawa Reds later today. The crowd will most certainly be a 12th man for the Pride of Saitama, and it could be argued that their supporters are really their best player, no matter what Bobby thinks.

I'm watching the Boca Match on Tape Delay right now, sadly I just can not get into it. You just don't get the feeling that anyone will derail Boca and Milan from playing in the final, and that is why it's not interesting. I mean does anyone really think Urawa Reds is going to beat Milan??

Mexico had a chance to try and put themselves on the map if Pachuca could do something in this competition, but they crapped out big time.

The prospect of clubs playing in some sore of world club tourney is a great idea, but it has its problems. And to add to it games are played in Japan, where the time they are playing is not accomodating for most countries to watch.

The Legend
Bobby thinks Urawa have good fans even though deep down he likes Omiya more.

Portugal has tabled a bid for 2010 and 2011, so that'll be much easier on us westerners.

edit: Just remembered I don't sleep anyway.

Don't rate him THAT highly TBH.

Put an even reasonably competent centre back on him and as long as he matches Washington for size he can take him out of the game to a large extent. For all his hype he was largely anonymous against us in the two ACL group games.

Robson Ponte, though, is fantastic. Shame about his injury.... I was very impressed.

Urawa's got plenty of players I rate. Tulio Tanaka at the back has impressed me every time I've seen him play ... Suzuki is a phenomenal holding midfielder, obviously Ono is solid too. And Nagai looked very good up front at the Asian Champions League.

"We had to be very patient and wait for the right moment to strike," said Ancelotti. "It was a difficult match as expected. However, we were always in control, especially in the second half as Urawa failed to keep the same tempo of the first and we had more space to attack. Now we have to prepare for Boca in the best possible way. They are very dangerous opponents but we really want this trophy."

That's good to hear from the manager of the European side which is usually put under the impression that they don't care about this tournament. I can't wait for the final (Y) which is a re-match of the 2003 Intercontinental Cup which Boca won 3-1 in penalties after the score was 1-1 after 120 minutes.

I have to give some props to the Japanese side, who even though were much inferior to the strong Milan side, gave some tough resistance in the first half. I fell asleep during the second half as it was a bit late for me here in the U.S.

I had finals (exams) starting at 8 am, so I wasn't going to be able to get some sleep and watch the game too ... but I just watched fifa.com's highlights ... Milan had some smooth build-up plays, and who else but Kaka' with the assist ... they looked good ... shame for Urawa; was rooting for the upset ...

now, I saw that Milan were unofficially and officially the away team in that match, so played in their away kits ... now, from a marketing standpoint they'd want to wear their home strip, or their current third, or a special kit, to make sure they cashed-in in the far-east ... but that would conflict with them wearing their lucky-in-the-final all-white kit ... and for all the capitalism in the world, I can't see Milan breaking that tradition ... good on them for that!

nice one here. :)
All in all, a weak game for Milan, they just don't entertain. Surely they might be keeping power for the more important fixtures, but after all the asian market wants to see Milan's best...
I will surely support Boca on the final, no doubt about that. ;)

My opinions about this tournament is that I think many parties unnecessary, if at the end always in the finals the representatives of UEFA and CONMEBOL, the Intercontinental Cup was better without much wear, in order ...

The final wins Milan 4-1 to Boca and Thirdplace Etoile 2-1 at Urawa Reds

Greetings from Argentina!!!

I wouldn't call it a weak game.. Milan dominated, they just can't finish or should i say Gila can't finish. Imagine if we had a real striker up front, with all the support they'd get from the likes of Pirlo and Kaka, this game would have ended 4-0.

Neither Boca and Milan had cakewalks on their semi-finals yet they made it through by the minimal difference, i think the final is going to be very tough, i think Milan can get it by a 1-0 difference.

it's unfortunately Riquelme has to watch the Boca games from the stands...

Indeed, it would've been funnier to see Boca being able to use Riquelme yet not being enough to win the thing.(6)

AC are just in bad form, especially in Seria A. I didnt predict to see them 4-nul. But with the amount of chances they had, they should have won by a bigger scoreline. Had money on Urawa to pull the upset. Think Milan will score late in the final to win it.
