How do I promote players from my u19s and reserve squad to the first team. It seems impossible to give those players a contract which means I am not able to use them for senior games. Please Help

If your team has few real players, the PC makes up generic ones for the reserves and U19 teams. They appear in gray in stead of the usual white, so you can make them out easily.
Those players can not be offered a contract or promoted to your 1st team. You'll have to find real players at other clubs, to fill up your 1st team.

click on the player, then his thing 'actions' in the bottom right hand corner and click promote to 1st team.

but if they are a GREY player as Ruud says, you cant do that, they are like there to fill in the gaps, like part timers basically.
