Confederations cup prediction/draft

So with the season coming to an end I thought I'd suggest something to do over the break with the confed cup,

Here's my idea:

We have another draft format thing, each taking turns to draft a player who is going to play in the confederations cup - only a little different this time, we are picking players based on their potential to score a goal or get an assist and tally up the results (the value of a goal:assist can be determined be it 1:1 or 1:0.5 or something similar). We obviously wouldn't get to pick as many players, I'm thinking like a 5 man team? Anyways this is just me throwing out an idea feel free to dump it, suggest improvements or support it (Y)

Also I'd assume a few parameters will be determined by the number of competitors so I'll run a poll to see who's interested for now

I don't know how much interest there is in this warm up tournament. No one other than the host country take it seriously.

On another note, Australia is really far away from South America. It still baffles me how close Africa is to South America. South America is practically midway between North America and Europe. I never realized how far off it really is from Australia. I thought the Pacific islands were a hop-skip_and-jump from Chile. That's not even remotely close to being the case.

I actually quite like the idea of the structure but I just dont know or care about the confed cup, still it might be fun to do as a test and if the structure works we could perhaps do a bigger version for the 2014 world cup...... it's kind of like half draft half DIY fantasy football.

Yeah this was pretty much my thought, it's also pretty easy to run and nowhere near as time consuming. Obviously the confed cup isn't exactly ideal and i agree, but it's not like there's much else in the way of football in the off season plus it's pretty damn unpredictable

I think it would work good with about 8+ players hat way we have enough for a largeish table like format

Yeah and just 11 players per team?

The interesting twist of this is that it's like fantasy football but each player can only be had once, which I think could be really good.

I don't even think we need 11 players, but it could work that way too I guess its just dependent on how many want in

We can give it a try.

It's a pitty we couldn't do that classic draft thing.

Cool that gives us 10 which imo is a really good number , obviously more wouldn't hurt though :)
