Confirmed Transfers

Starting XI
Dortmund preparing for life without Lewandowski.

Adrián Ramos (Hertha) -> Dortmund on a 4 year contract.

I know nothing about the player though, except that he's been scoring lots of goals this season.

I'm with Deisler. Dortmund can do better than this. Ramos is just a "slightly better" version of Giroud.

Being a Bayern fan, I wouldn't be upset if I were you. He's a good player and will certainly offer good depth. But being a fan of German football, it is ridiculously stupid. He's just thrown his career away (unless, gasps, Kroos is leaving).

I actually like the deal. It is a free transfer and if it doesn't work out, he can still leave in winter or summer, just like Kirchhoff. And I have no doubt that there are a couple of clubs who would like to sign him. Schalke, Gladbach, Wolfsburg, maybe someone in England.

Pep will turn him into a CB

No it's not. Dortmund need to hedge their funds and purchase a replacement for Lewy as well as depth layers. Torres would eat up half their budget while being only good enough to be 2nd choice. I maintain that they should get Volland and Kruse. That's unfeasible and expensive though. They should just pillage the clubs that go down. Assuming Ramos is a done deal, having them sign Ginter as has been touted would be awesome. Should Freiburg go down I would make a bid for Sorg as well, since he's a great Fb who can play on either side. If Nurnberg go down Kiyotake, Plattenhardt and Drmic would be excellent players to sign (Nilsson, Ginczek and Chandler wouldn't be bad either). If HSV go down BVB should do whatever they can to get Badelj (maybe Arslan) and if they can get Tah and Calhanoglu they definitely should. Should it be Stuttgart, Gentner, Ibisevic, Werner and Harnik would be great players for them, too.

Finally, Beck, Choupo-Moting, Ibrahima Traore, Ya Konan and Hunt are all out of contract in the summer. Traore has apparently signed with Gladbach but getting Beck, Moting and Hunt for no fee would be a great move, IMO. None of them will break into the starting line-up, but they would offer Klopp the depth to deal with injuries and challenge on multiple fronts without having to use retired players and youth. Personally I think BVB could sign those 3 for depth and add 1-2 players from those I mentioned earlier depending on who goes down and still have enough to manage to make 1 big signing to improve the starting line-up. That would be my ideal scenario.

Durm appears to be the real deal at left back and they also have Pisczcek and Grosskreutz, I don't think they should purchase a FB.

Considering how often the starting FBs get injured and that Grosskreutz gets used like a trump card, I'd say a good back-up FB is quite important. Beck for free or Sorg to cover both wings would be good for them.

Considering that they play a high-intensity game and that they have been injured for long periods for the last few seasons, getting a good back-up for free would be a smart move.

What would you prefer they bring in?
