These could change depending two teams of the same country qualify, there's the possibility that the semi-finals could be all brazilian and all argentinian, there's also the possibility of an all mexican semi-final match, which would ruin the possibility of both a brazilian semi-final and argentine semi-final, the only way for things to not be altered is to have the 4 teams from 4 different countries, aka 1 brazilian(either Flu or SPFC) 1 argentine(Boca), 1 mexican(América) and LDUQ.

Diablo Rojo, I had those same candidates but I also included Sao Paulo and I had Liga as my darkhorse, but now that Flu has taken out Boca I guess they'd be the favorites. Liga de Quito took out a few Argie big clubs.

So I guess FIFA will allow games to be played 2700 meters above sea level, a subject that should have never even been touched.

Why not prohibit games over the 40 degrees, how many lives have we seen parrish over the last couple of years w/ players just dropping to the ground. Oh but wait we'd be affecting Brazil, so nevermind. I guess Bolivia was easy to pick on since they don't carry the same weight as Argentina/Brazil, the two biggest supporters of the descrimination FIFA was about to impose.

1- The argument against high altitude games is medical. It has scientific evidence behind it.

2- Most countries avoid playing games over 40 degrees already.

3- Brazil rarely reaches 40 degrees anywhere.

4- Brazilian playes are affected by such high temperatures just as any other country players.

5- Football games here are played after 4pm so the temperature is more suited for sports.

What I'm saying is that Brazil wouldn't care at all about your proposal, it's an argument that is often used against us but it holds no water.

By the way the 2009 Libertadores is going on, I'm sure my fellow latin americans knew this deal. The 50th edition, an important one I guess...right? VAMOS RIVER CARAJO!

Anybody want to adventure into picking favorites?

How about Libertad's win over San Lorenzo? I was impressed. Cruzeiro and Sport Recife seem like good representatives for Brazil. I think Boyaca Chico could give anybody a surprise. Then there's alway the superpowers that make themselves present like: Boca, Nacional de Montevideo, Sao Paulo, and Colo Colo.

Meanwhile the majestic tournament that is the Champions League sets its eyes on his two finalists, on the other side of the pond, OUR Libertadores prepares his 16 qualified teams to start a new round. Yes, maybe our tournament falls short of the expectation the Champions League produces but belive you me that in terms of passion the C.L. doesn't quite move me (probably because my team isn't participating but still). All we have to look at is how the home teams in Libertadores are received by it's fans when the "big fames" start taking place, no comparison whatsoever. So here are the matches for the 50th aniversary of the Copa Libertadores:

Gremio - Universidad de San Martín
Caracas - Dep. Cuenca
Sao Paulo - Chivas
Cruzeiro - Universidad de Chile
Boca Juniors - Defensor Sporting
Libertad - Estudiantes
Nacional - San Luis
Sport Recife - Palmeiras

Note: The mexican teams will be affected severely by the flu epidemic taking place, both Guadalajara and San Luis will move their home games to Bogota, Colombia; it is still to be seen if Estadio "El Campin" allows the games to take place there. They aren't quite cooperative at this moment for fear that the visiting fans carry the virus to thier country.
