Custom formations for fifa 08

Hello!

My favourite team in the whole game is Liverpool FC. But I have a big problem. Their native formation in the game sucks! Gerrard is never to be seen up front!
Instead of him Mascherano or any other midfielder runs ahead.
I'm a huge fan of football but I do not know much about tactics.
So I have a request for all you Murinhos.
Could someone please tell me how to create a formation for my favourite team.
How do they play in real life and how could I implement their gaming style in Fifa 08.

Now, lets say i start in manager mode and switch to a different team that I never thought i would manage. Than there's no way to get my prefered formations anymore.

Also, how many formations can a team have? Is there a limit?

After you have chosen a formation close to what you want, you can use the position editor to fine tune each position to your liking. You can save this as one of two custom formations. I assume as they are saved, if you change teams, the custom formations will still remain.

I'm not sure that you can, although it might be worth trying to add a new formation in the 800 range and assigning it to every team (you could do that with DB Master, and probably CM too) but even if that doesn't work there are probably a couple of workarounds. Either build your custom formation and then overwrite every team-specific formation in the FIFA.DB with that layout or update the manager mode data file to assign the same formation id to all teams (you might have to wait for Rinaldo's Manager Master for the latter)

Not true. When you assign a formation to a team then that updates your My Squads data so that that formation becomes the default for that team. However, any custom formations that existed at the start of manager mode can be used whichever team(s) you are managing, and if you'd like to import new formations there is always my EAFFAnalyser which can do that for you at any time.

A team only has one default formation (obviously enough) but every team in manager mode has access to their team-specific formation (even if you've assigned another as their default), the nine generic formations plus any custom formations. The maximum number of custom formations is not made explicit, but the manager mode data file only has room for a maximum of 40, and probably slightly less than that because the names themselves take up space in the same area.
