I don't mean to waste anyone's time with a new thread like this, but hopefully this will help.

I've been able to reproduce the following problems on my PC with the PES 3 demo:

Althlon 1GHz
256MB RAM (Corsair).
GeForce 3 (Visiontek - $399, this is not the cheap MX version).

Too slow, as in slow motion.
Too fast, as in unplayable.
In-between, the game will run fine one second and slow the next.

In order to get the game to run perfectly, try the following obvious things first: (these however didn't affect me and most likely, won't help you either, but just incase).

As with any game, make sure you have the latest video card drivers and sound drivers. For AMD users, make sure you are using the latest version the VIA 4In1 Drivers. Defragging your HDD and running a scandisk may also help. Also turn off any background applications, (virus-scan etc...).

Now some steps that should actually help, especially for those with 2.5Ghz+ processors and having the game run like crap (some of this has been mentioned before, but I fully tested these fixes and it SHOULD work for you):

V-Sync: Turn this OFF. Having this on will cause the game to run fast for 1 second and slow the next. The tearing affects suck I know, but it's better than not being able to play the game.

Antialising: Turn this OFF. Turning this on will only slow your game down to a crawl, don't use 4x, not even 2x, turn it completely off, the in game graphics aren't exactly ground breaking. Even if you have a fast PC, the FIFA 2004 demo and everything else you have runs as smooth as silk, turn this OFF. Antisotropic Filtering, Texture Sharpening, MipMapping etc don't seem to have any affect on the game, so feel free to enable these.

Refresh Rate: It was the last thing I thought of, but my golly it works. I have my desktop resolution set at 800x600x32@85Hz (17" monitor). I can also connect my PC to the TV using an S-Video cable and TvTool (great program by the way) and play the demo at 640x480 (Full Screen at High Detail) on the TV I noticed something, the game was running perfectly before my very eyes.

The reason for this is because it seems the game is designed to run at 60Hz, not anything higher. When running the game on my PC at 640x480x32@85Hz, it's so fast it's unplayable, running the game at 60Hz causes it to run fine. I upped the resolution to 800x600 in game and it ran slow (a bad port in my opinion).

My suggestions are the following:

- Turn off V-Sync.

- Turn off Antialising.

- Use a program such as Refresh Force and set either 640x480, 800x600, 1024x768, 1280x1024 to 60Hz and then play the game. If you have anything less than a 2GHz CPU, I would sugguest 800x600@60Hz, anything higher and it may play smoothly. Note: DO NOT set your desktop resolution to 60Hz and then enter the game, this doesn't fix the problem! Stay in your native resoution and use Refresh Force to set the refresh rate.

This should hopefully help a lot of people, saving you from reducing your image quality in game, running within a window or lowering sound acceleration level.

Great post mate. I finally got my to work and run real smooth at 1152 x864. Smoother than my PS2. You're right about the 60 Hz thing. Now it's off to make some real kits for this game. A new PC footie revolution is at hand. Can't wait until next year when KONAMI sees the potential and optimize PES4 for the PC.

Actually i had the problem with the game running to fast, switching to 60HZ fixed it but it will hurt yours eyes after continuous playing. So i just run it in a window at 1024x768 Full detail at 100HZ and its fine, runs like it does on 60HZ and doesnt hurt your eyes after long amounts of time :)

my PC:

P4 1.8 Ghz
GeForce2 MX 400
256 RAM

I can't run the game in the normal speed. I tried all the suggestions in this forum. The situation is improved but still in slow motion. The game runs smoothly when the ball is in the side of the field but slow motion in the middle of the field and near the goals.

Actually I don't mind upgrading my video card but the problem is the 200W power supply and no AGP slot.

Can anybody give me some suggestions?

Thanks a lot.

Hey there,

I tried everything listed in this thread as I (Ath1.4/512/GF4MX) was running slo-mo too. Messing around with aliasing, v-sync and detonator drivers partially fixed the speed problem (tho it still varies a lot). Problem is, I get messed up graphix. Check this out: http://home.wanadoo.nl/tjmartin

Can anybody explain this? Or fix it?

Thanks.

I had exactly the same problem.
But I installed the newest patch + the latest no cd crack and I changed my video settings in the game to 1024 x 786 Low detail and I didnt have those messed up pictures anymore!

Specs:
Windows XP
AMD Athlon 1600+ mhz 256 Ram
Geforce 2 Ti (Yes Ibo ;) )
Soundblaster Live 5.1
