Is it really that bad? I kind of assumed that when it actually came down to it he was just going to lay out basic unedited republican think tank stuff.
Also is what cruz did entirely unprecedented? Trump said 'saw a copy of cruz speech two hours before and still let him speak' could be really have stopped him speaking?

He could've stopped him but the ensuing shitstorm would've been unbelievable and gotten Cruz more attention than he could ever dream of, he would've been a martyr of American conservatism.
The speech was bad. I suggest watching it for yourself. There were more that a few elements of European populism in there, and he had a Chavez vibe about him. Pure strongman stuff.

Yeah, the text of the speech doesn't do his presentation justice. He was shouting the whole thing and had a very authoritarian cadence.
This leak is an absolute pile of gold for Trump, the greatest gift he could've ever been handed. Bernie's supporters are (rightfully, looking through the files) next-level pissed and Jill Stein is doing her best to rile them up (you can actually see the steam coming out of the ears of Hillary loyalists as they angrily tweet at her). CBS, CNN, NBC, and Politico people all involved too. Trump's just going to barnstorm the country telling people how rigged the system is by reading Luis Miranda and DWS' own words.

Bill, Biden, and Barry all gave outstanding speeches. I think most people who were on the fence about Hillary came off it after the last 2 nights.
Her target audience is dissident Republicans, and she'll be able to grab them this fall. She's fighting Johnson for them because they aren't voting Trump. She's gonna turn right and run as a centrist this fall (this will bring NC, PA, and VA to her), she'll win pretty easily.

Trump is getting murdered in the polls now after both convention bounces. Georgia is in play somehow, and Hillary has the money to advertise everywhere while Trump has no money at all in addition to no ground game. This election could end up getting real ugly.
At this point, you look towards the debates as the only thing that could save Trump, but it's much much more likely that he performs horribly in the debates and treats Hillary in a misogynistic way. I've also heard that Trump might just not want to do debates at all.

In other smaller but interesting news, the republican establishment scored a rare victory against the tea party which indicates that a fight back may be on as 'freedom caucus' member and serial obstructionist Tim Huelskamp, incumbent, is resoundingly unseated by chamber of commerce and gop backed rookie challenger in the Kansas First. Watch Florida 19th coming up in August, if Francis Rooney wins there this could be a trend...

I'm starting to agree with Shifty Savage. The Green Party is bullshit. They don't really have a party at all, they run like 75 local candidates each election cycle and then put up someone to run for President as if it means anything.

I listen to it about once every 3 months or so when I don't have any fresh podcasts and have lots of time on my hands. I follow him on twitter though, that's where I'm seeing this.

Summer is tough without the football podcasts. There is also BBC 5 live football daily which can be quite good. I've just discovered a podcast called The Axe Files which I like - political interviews.
