ESPN has no business covering the WC and never have. Tournament after tournament they show no regard for the sport, no national anthems, no buildup and their on screen graphics are a farce. The top is taken up by the score, time and sponsor while the bottom is filled by the stupid sport ticker. You can't concentrate on the game with this visual buggery and then they'll splash some huge graphic on regarding upcoming coverage or something obscuring the game. It's always been the same and worsens every time. I watch the coverage on Univision instead just to watch a clearer picture and not be assualted by dull stats repeated over and over. I suppose American are used to it but as a New Zealander over here I just cringe and remember the days of Martin Tyler and can only laugh at Tommy Shyte.

NRK, the television company that broadcasts half of the WC-matches in Norway are on a strike right now, or, not everyone is in strike, but appearently some of the technicians are still on a strike, so we don't even have the scoreline or the time of the match:p

Why is Espn showing the WC on espn 2... is it not more important than a 100 reruns of sports centre. They have lousy coverage aswell. I hope to god someone other than ESPN starts covering football, even PPV... I'd rather pay 20$ than watch it through ESPN. who decides what goes on there,so for humorous purposes I'd imgine something like....

ESPN LOSER- I got an idea lets put the world cup on espn2 while we show sports centre allday on espn.

ESPN DICKHEAD- Great idea fred, with that kind of thinking we'll really progress with providing adequate coverage of such a small event. Oh, Fred make sure you put womens college basketball on, I think there's a meaningless exobition being played somewhere... that will draw a big tv audience as opposed to that unkonown tournament called the... nazi cup.. I don't know something to do with Germany. I became ESPN president over night you know, my daddy gave it to me.

(Dialogue proceeded by farting noises.)


Not very humorous considering that I'm not imagining and thats exactly what goes on at ESPN.

are you on acid or something... I'd enjoy the world cup, if anyone but ESPN were showing it. There are networks not even showing any of the games who are covering the world cup better than ESPN... they give very little regard to anything about football. They hold the rights to every Champions League game and they only show one or two atmost per match day. Personally I think ESPN can do a way better job and that they really must rethink how they cover football in general.

ESPN has a pretty concrete schedule of highlight and commentary shows. ESPN2 is more for live events. If you get ESPN you get ESPN2 so stop bitching. Is it so hard to move up one channel?

Yeah, obviously the commentators are ****, but who cares? I want to watch great football, not listen to commentary.

I'm with Shifty on this one. Just shut the f**ck up and watch the f**king games. If you don't like ESPN, you can watch them on Univision.

As far as I know, the only network in the world offering these games in High Definition is ESPN. I just watched the first half of TnT vs. Sweden in HD and I've just about creamed my pants from the quality of the picture.

Have any of your guys noticed that the ESPN/ABC broadcast is like 8 seconds late. So I watch the game on Univision and if I want to see a reply I change it to ESPN/ABC. :)

Univision has by far the best coverage of the WC. They do half an hour of analyzing before each game studying the teams. The IMAGE is also better on the channel. If you switch back and forth between Univision and espn, it is clear they have the better picture. The commentary is better, i just heard that spanish guy from GolTV on univision. he did a very nice job with the sweden t and t game. And yea there is like an 8 sec delay on espn and abc.

Im not saying they suck. They actually get props for showing every game, BUT they should learn from univision to see how much better it is.
