4 teams left, all from europe, if there was no brazil or argentina, i would definitely consider the european championship as another world cup version, do you guys agree?

No, it just happened, end of, it's normal that Argentina or Brazil can't do it all WC's to the finals...

But yeah, apart form Brazil and Argentina, the better teams are in Europe.

The quality of football at Euros has always been higher. The tournament is a lot more competitive.

Just take a look at the four groups of the last Euro:

Portugal, Spain, Greece, Russia
France, England, Switzerland, Croatia
Italy, Sweden, Denmark, Bulgaria
Czech Republic, Holland, Germany, Latvia

To be honest, I believe Argentina played the best football in the competition.

i think it was Ivory Coast, they even played better than Argentina, even though they lost that game.

I think it is as tough if you talk about winning, since you will end up facing the strong nations anyway in the semis and final of the world cup. Besides the 2nd tier european teams like Ukraine and S & M arn't even good enough to compete with Africa.

with the 2 exceptions Brazil & Argentina, It should be europe.
Money..With money, Somalia can be the Champions.

Africa has great teams like Ghana, Cote D'Ivoire, Nigeria,etc..
but they have shortage in money..very skilled but too poor.

The European Championships are harder to win because there is a much higher chance that you will face a good team. It isn't always the case that you will end up facing hard teams to beat in the later stages of a World Cup...2002 was a prime example. There are just more competitive nations in Europe..more teams that can win the World Cup or EUROs.

IMO European championship is far thougher to win than WC! :jap:

Maybe the group stages are tougher in the Euros but the knockout stages are tougher in the World Cup just because you have all the top Euro teams plus Argentina, Brazil, and maybe Mexico who are as good as the top Euro sides and to me this makes the World Cup tougher than the Euros. And also the World Cup isn't always in Europe which also makes it tougher for Euro teams and vice versa for other continents.

And that while everyone tought of an South-American(or rather Argentinian-Brasilian) dominance during this WC.

But you may not necessarily face any of those three at the World Cup....Take Italy for example..survived the group of death and well, 11 on 11 they weren't extended in the next 2 games. And they have not faced and will not be facing any of those 3 teams. Had they qualified from their group at EURO 2004, they would have faced either the Czech Republic or the Netherlands....hardly teams that wouldn't extend them.

The best teams don't always make it in a knock-out tournament.

keep that in mind.

Would you really rather have it decided on a league basis? Guess what...if your're not good enought to win a quarter final, then there is no way in hell that you are worthy of being called the best team in the world because 4 other teams got further than you!
