Everton vs Chelsea [R]

0 - 1 to Chelsea. Very exciting match for the full 90 minutes, Everton's James Beattie for some reason headbutted the back of Gallas' head in the 8th minute and got sent off. This could have been a blessing in disguise for Everton, as they focused on defense and had a few chances to counterattack, but Chelsea got very lucky when at the 70th minute Gallas deflected a shot over Everton keeper Nigel Martyn (who was amazing, made many saves), which hit the crossbar, back down onto Gudjohnsen's foot for an easy tap in.

Very very unfortunate for Everton, their defense was well coordinated and really deserved a draw for their effort.

I think (and hope) Chelsea will drop points soon. Without Robben they've suddenly gone back to the scrappy 1-0's.

the problem is that United will drop points too. 9 points (considering a United win tomorrow) is already a confortable gap for Chelsea in this time of the season IMO. Man Utd-Chelsea will be the decisive match

Of course there's always the chance of ManUtd dropping points. But I'd like to think that Utd have some experience with trailing teams for the title. Adding to that, I think Utd have looked really good in the past weeks, players are coming back, the hunger is definately there etc. Of course Chelsea are the favourites but I think we've still got a chance.

Joe Cole and Lampard really aggrevated me today with their horrible shooting. Gudjohnsen would make runs for nothing. Cole thinks he's the only one out there and Lampard's crosses are just as bad as his shooting. Chelsea has an awesome defense, but the attack is seriously lacking without Robben and Drogba.

Oh no! We are winning 1-0 again.

People forget so easily that we won alot of 1-0s with Robben also, infact we only won 1-0 to Everton at the Bridge last time we played them.

Yes, we fail to hold the ball without Robben, we also fail to make any chances on goal, just scringing out 1-0 victories while we get thumped by the opposition and play in our own back half.

I will try and get the stats against City also. Once again if other teams are going to play 9 men behind the ball we will have to break them down, and we have done that.

The other fans can complain, moan, speculate all they want.

We are 12 ahead, as the Blue Tomorrow gets closer each day. :rockman:

Only 1 goal from 25 shots :|

These are normal statistics considering that Everton played 82 minutes with 10 men.

You lot need to stop being so over defensive all the time. Is it not true that Chelsea look more dangerous with Robben then without him? Is it not true that last few performances were not as energetic as before? I was just pointing out that Chelsea machine wasn't running as smooth as it has done, and that I, as a Utd fan am hoping for Chelsea to drop some points.

And bringing the Everton stats into it doesn't really make sense does it, when Beattie was sent off after just 8 mins...

And Drvar, don't call me idiotic ****face.

Worry about your own team. Your lead is running away fast.

Everton put 9 men behind the ball and we still created chances. Everton would of for sure been more adventurous had Beattie not had a brain explosion. Joe Cole played his best game in the blue in the position Robben plays in.

There is only so much a team can do when all they are intent on is defending.

Now all you people critising Chelsea better worry about your own teams, chasing massive leads or trying to defend what were massive leads.

The "Chelsea Machine" wasn't running smoothly either at Christmas yet we still got 12 points.

Hey, 1-0 isn't a bad results considering Everton were playing defensively since minute 9 of the game.

However, I do agree with Maarten here that some of Chelsea's creativity and sprak is gone now that Robben is out.

Those stats are almost identical to the Chelsea - MAN CITY game last week.

Dunno why people care about the 1-0 winds, football is more than just how many goals you score. City once scored more goals than anyone else in a season, and still got relegated (H) :(

But anyway, I am still pissed with Liverpool after last nights performance. I had $5 cumulative bet on Wigan and Ipswich to win (they did), Bolton and Boro to Draw (they did), Chelsea to beat Everton (they did), Tottenham to beat WBA ( they did), Fulham to beat Derby (they did) and B'burn to beat Norwich (they did)... and I HAD POOL TO BEAT BIRMINGHAM :f***:

If Pool had won I would be up $1500 :| wtf are they thinking? Champs League football next year? Yeah right.

EDIT: Chelsea versus MAN CITY stats, Rob.
