seems almost giddy ... "I took the right decision for myself", "I was racing for myself" -- good thing F1 isn't a team sport ... oh, wait, right ...

Nico would do the same to him if he was behind in the championship

The Von Trapps
Nico was given team orders in Malaysia last year, when he was told to back off and not take the fight to Hamilton ... did he disobey? no, he complied, coz that's what an employee does ... Louise cost Mercedes a shot at the win today, coz he thinks he drives for himself; he will eventually learn how wrong he is ... and by directly disobeying team orders, he has also set a dangerous precedent for the rest of the season ...

The Von Trapps
From 2008:
From what we know of him, Hamilton does not share Senna's propensity for seeing his role in a near-mystical light. He prefers to keep his wheels on the ground, with an attitude more reminiscent of that displayed by Schumacher during the German's period of total dominance. There are signs that Hamilton inherited from both men the view that any tactic, from the borderline unchivalrous to the downright illegitimate, justifies victory, for the simple reason that, according to their logic, it confirms the natural order of things.

When Robert Kubica criticised Hamilton's approach last week, he was probably not expecting to see such instant and vivid evidence in support of his words. "There are differences of philosophies," the Polish driver said. "Either you drive hard but fair or you are overconfident." He went on to make a specific criticism of the English driver's tactics at Monza last month. Hamilton rejected the accusation, but on Sunday his behaviour as he refused to accept the consequences of a poor start showed that Kubica's comments were not merely an example of the usual mind games.

and from May this year:

Lewis Hamilton’s F1 feuds: Nico Rosberg is not the only one

Lewis Hamilton has form when it comes to falling into spats with other F1 drivers, whether on his constructor’s team or not

[Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg in Monaco; strained relations are not unusual in Hamilton's career]

Fernando Alonso McLaren 2007

Hamilton showed his ego could be a match for anyone in his debut season, when he felt he should have been McLaren’s senior driver ahead of the reigning double world champion, Fernando Alonso. He ignored team orders to let Alonso pass him in qualifying in Hungary that season, which led to Alonso blocking Hamilton in the pits in revenge.

Felipe Massa Ferrari 2011

Hamilton and Massa, whom the English driver had pipped to the 2008 world title, were both trailing in the wake of Sebastian Vettel, but turned to competing against each other and had six collisions during the season. Hamilton was widely thought to be at fault on the majority of occasions.

Adrian Sutil Force India 2011

Sutil was not only one of Hamilton’s rivals in Formula Three but also Hamilton’s best friend. That relationship quickly soured when Sutil appeared in court, charged with assaulting Renault F1’s chief executive, Eric Lux, and Hamilton refused to appear as a witness. Sutil labelled his former friend “a coward”.

Jenson Button McLaren 2012

With McLaren challenging Red Bull for the Constructors’ Championship title in 2012, the team needed both of their drivers to work together, but the campaign was disrupted when Hamilton wrongly accused Button of unfollowing him on Twitter. “I thought we respected one another but clearly he doesn’t,” posted Hamilton on the networking site, before realising that Button did not follow him in the first place, and later apologising.

basically, Hamilton can f*ck off with his complaints ... his attitude has always shown where the problem lies ... I'd love to see Nico put him out of the next race too ...

I also find it hilarious that Toto and Niki feel that the incident happening in the 2nd lap as opposed to the end of the race is what makes it "unacceptable" ... hahaha! what a joke ... :-D

Been quite disappointing this weekend in all honesty...though gee has clearly ruffled Seb's feathers. Made him leave the team. I'm worried Red Bull will drift away now, and become another Williams or McLaren, "also ran", team

he's been fantastic ... it's an Alonso-esque performance so far: making what's clearly not the 2nd best car in the sport look like the only challenger to the clear frontrunners ... plus, he's the nice guy everyone likes ...

it's hard to compete with the Mercedes powertrain this year ... at least Adrian Newey doesn't leave till 2016 ...

Williams (in their stylish Martini livery) are also-rans only because they don't have better drivers ... their engine supplier makes them the only car that can challenge the Mercedes works team for pace ... McLaren *are* crap, I'll give you that; but they've managed to sign Fernando, so they must have something up their sleeve for next year ...

And the best part about it all is he's beating Vettel at every stage along the way...Showing him up to be the overrated driver (and luckiest 4 x world champion) in the world!

Is Alonso to McLaren official yet? There were rumours of Hamilton going there.

McLaren are likely to come good randomly for a season or two, they should never be ruled out. Williams lost pace 10+ years ago and haven't looked good again since, until this year they've looked ok.

Red Bull have ploughed so much money in to get themselves competitive (as Ferrari had always done), so both of those teams wouldn't be happy with what they're putting out at the moment, and nor should they be. Mercedes are ripping them to shreds.

stick Jenson Button in the outright fastest car on the grid, with preferential treatment, and he'd win a championship too ... oh, right ...

we'll see Vettel's true capacity at Ferrari ...

--

I'd love [!!] to see Ham take his bags and his ingerlander fanatics/moronics back to McLaren ... but Fernando signing there is supposedly something Nikki Lauda let slip (like Horner did with Ferrari being Seb's destination) ... what were Alonso's other options anyway? whatever the case, I'm not happy seeing someone as brilliant as him leave the mystical Ferrari without a championship ...

Red Bull's driver dev program is paying off for them, even though Mercedes usurped them as the most ridiculously advantaged team this season ...

in terms of other market movements, I really want to see Kobash in a car that can compete for wins, racing on equal terms with a star driver ...

ferrari has been great on the road with ff, f458 and f12.. there's a correlation btw their f1 performance and road cars. when they suck on road, they rule f1 and when they suck on f1, their road cars rocks :)

You could be on to something.

McLaren and Williams dominated Ferrari late 80s, early 90s when the F40 was at its prime....

AND 84 was the year the Testarossa was released...it so happens 83 was the final year of Ferrari winning 6/9 constructors championships before going on a dry spell for 15 years! Basically they didn't start winning again until they stopped selling the F50...

I haven't thought this myself, I heard it from the BBC UK's Jeremy Clarkson yet I agree it makes perfect sense.

“Young kids will see the Rolex brand but are they going to go and buy one? They can’t afford it. Or our other sponsor UBS – these kids don’t care about banking. They haven’t got enough money to put in the bloody banks anyway. That’s what I think,” he said.

“I don’t know why people want to get to the so-called young generation. Why do they want to do that? Is it to sell them something? Most of these kids haven’t got any money. I’d rather get to the 70-year-old guy who’s got plenty of cash.

^ lol yeah Bernie's going senile ... he needs to look at Marvel Studios, and how their ridiculous success has been built on delivering products that are "gritty" to an extent, but allow toys to be made and sold under the kid-friendly Disney umbrella ...

anyway, final weekend has started ... more than the double points debate, it's the "worthy" champion debate that's more interesting:

so if Nico wins, he'll have the respect of his peers around the paddock; no one should be surprised ... but what's funny is that the main argument for Ham being worth, and Nico not being worth, is that Lewis has won more races ... it's funny not because winning more races isn't relevant to the "worthy" discussion (coz it is); it's funny because they talk about Stirling Moss, Mike Hawthorn, even Keke Rosberg in terms of race wins, but *completely* neglect to mention that Hamilton himself won the Drivers Championship in 2008 ahead of Massa despite Massa winning more races than him ... :borat:
