bloody good win that...a pool newcastle match is always bound to be entertaining, not to say i was in the first half with the barcodes pinging the ball around with us the likely monkeys. but as the luck of the monkeys goes havung been ushered into the new year, we began to close them down effectively and grew in confidence from there on to string some lovely moves on our own. i must again highlight how our passing game only took shape after heskey was subbed at the break with the tricky le tallec giving us a more balanced feel throughout the side. i believe this is the form of cheyrou that he hasnt managed to exhibit before due to his horrendous injuries which have dogged any progress of him settling into the side and providing it that creative spark in midfield. and now with some fabulously struck goals, he has showed us a glimpse of the enormously talented lad that he truly is. the robert goal aside (which i still believed dudek could have diverted with a strong enough fist and a wee bit more concentration), the jenas header and the chance shearer fashioned for himself late on from which the resulting save redeemed dudek in my eyes, i pretty much liked the look of the defence, sans biscan and traore and riise. carragher has given that left berth much needed solidity and balance and it seems like he's been working on that left peg of his. finnan too was excellent in both the defensive and offensive aspects and while dioufy's absence was much felt in the first half when he was often left isolated on that right flank to offer an option, the introduction of le tallec changed that and together they conjured some penetrating moves down their channel.

oh well, ill be back later with more indepth analysis and player reviews but it's a time to be jolly fer now :ewan:

******* hell why did Dudek have to save the last minuted Shearer shot????????????? Should of been a replay!!!!!!!!!!!

We ran out of ideas in the 2nd half. Nothing was getting past the Liverpool back four.

So fustrating another chance of silverware out the fooking window :kader:

well..... one word to sum it up: AAAAAAAAAHHHH !!!

We were very poor straight from the stat of the second half. And let Liverpool charge into us. The better team won. We could have been well capable to bring home a replay.

I found Dyer frustrating as ever.... this guy can't really dribble can he ... and Shearer was very quiet for a third game out of last 4.

All in all what did we expect... we were praising clean sheets of late ... and then go and conced after 2 minutes ! that sums up our season really. Ok RObert's great FK got us well back into it... but qe didn't creat anything else until it was too late and we were desperate.

congrats Liverpool. Gerrard turn it on and did for Liverpool what we were expecting from dyer ot Jenas.
Our season is slowly fizzling out.

Well I suppose I'd rather we lost in the fifth round than the semi or even the final.

Wow how have they not fired houlier yet, with signings like him, and Cheyrou lol

great call buddy

how bout you just eat it mate eat all those words above ....what i hate about these type of people is they make uneducated opinions ... anyone who loves liverpool will know cheyrou has been in and out of the trainers room more times since he signed than anyone .... does that make him a flop maybe ... but he is coming good ........... players like biscan and heskey who get bagged for poor performances are (in biscans caase) about the third choice but because of injuries starting .... normal igor would be behind Carragher, Henchoz , Finnan , who have all been injured ... how would Arsenal cope without Sol, Cygan and Ashley cole --- ok ? well they would still be alot more shakey

damn
