That's true ... he was awesome in that role while playing in England ... I'm not sure it was you or somebody else who compared him with Makelele, I liked that.

Midfield role may suit Lahm in long term, full back role is very challenging these days ... but Alaba, C'mon ...

I'm interested to see how Pep and Lewy get along, Pep worked with some of the best #9s and had issues with all of them:

No I don't think that was the debate. Pep didn't ruin Mascherano's career, he just turned him into the absolute perfect CB for us at that time.

You have a short memory ... Mascherano and that 3-4-3 were so shit in his last year in charge ... Mascherano played few games a year before when you won champions League again, it was mostly Puyol-Pique ... He was terrible against Bayern and many matches last year.

Mascherano is a fucking liability in defense. He's a great DM, which he proved in this World Cup. That hasn't changed. But he's bound to make one clear mistake - whether it be a misguided pass, failed tackle, failing to estimate the flight of a ball or reading a situation wrongly. When he plays DM, that's fine. There's going to be CBs behind him to gather the ball up after the mistake. But when he's the last man, and this happens, it's a goal. I've seen this way too many times to call Masche "the absolute perfect CB". He's a fine backup, but nowhere near being even a great CB.
