Fifa 06 Nintendo DS Version review:

Pros: Quick portable play.
Great weather effects for the system
Much better team/player editing then Madden 06 for DS
3D graphics that look good and improve on the GBA versions considerably
Simplified controls that work to the handheld's advantage

Cons: Still scripted goal shooting (but somehow I do not mind on the DS)
Graphics overall. I would like to see more polished look, but I really wonder just how much the system can be polished? put it this way it looks slightly better than ISS on N64.
Not everything make sit over to the DS. The animations the edting of players etc.

I don't really know what to say. If i had to compare this to the other handheld sports games on the Ds. this one wins HANDS DOWN. I just recently bought and then traded in fifa 05 for the GBA(which i first played on my DS becase I longed for a Ds soccer game) i was not impressed by the GBA advance vers at all. it felt stale. fifa 06 for the DS does not. it's actually a very enjoyable game. I have WE9 for my PSP and though THAT game is just utterly incredible and argueably BETTER than the console vers this DS Fifa game I like and will want to play just as much.

Thanks for the review, I've been trying to see what people thought of the DS version. I too bought 2005 for GBA as was supremely unimpressed. I realize there isn't a lot you can do with the GBA but it felt like EA didn't try at all. Rosters were WAY out of date and there was no way to change them; I hear that is also true in the DS version. I think EA views its handheld versions as quick cash-ins and then laughs all the way to the bank. I don't really plan on buying another FIFA game on console after the shoddy effort that was 06, let alone a handheld version.

Any plans for a PES game on DS?
