I tried to increase font quality in the game.
It partially worked, somewhere there were problems with alignment, but the main problem is that it caused often crashes.

Basically I'm increasing the font size (passed from .apt config files into render engine), and at the same time, upscaling the rendering matrix (so the font looks the same size in-game, but with better quality).
I think the game allocates a sinlge texture for each text/line: and for bigger font size, the game tries to create bigger textures, and in some cases the engine is not able to create large textures.
I also tried to increase the quality in other ways. I think I found the "dpi" value for fonts (which is 72 by default), but also got crashes at some point (more quality = more crashes), and also alignment problems were more visible.
I tried to increase multiple engine limits but nothing worked. If no solution for crashes problem will be found, I think I will need to completely rewrite the font rendering and make the game renders each glyph separately.

Thanks for them, but they are not integrated yet.
With these things found about engine, I'm not even sure if I could use 2k or 4k textures. So it will be interesting to check.

Idea and target
It's no secret that the PC version of FIFA 07 was graphically terrible. Pixelated faces, torn-eyed pitch, blurry interface textures... EA has mocked PC players over the years, slipping something incomprehensible instead of innovation and progress. The goal of this project is to improve the quality of the game, primarily in graphic terms. To achieve this, resources from other games will be used, as well as new technologies - such as smart increasing of the image quality.

Current progress
Replaced all face and hair textures (more than 8000 files) with enhanced ones (from FIFA 08 and other games).
Badge resolution increased from 100x100 (128x128) to 200x200 (256x256)

A lot of help is needed with kits. This is the main area where manual work is needed. At the moment, kits are simply upscaled to 1024x1024. So kits are better than original, but not that good. An alternative option is to redraw each kit manually, but it requires a lot of time and people. If there will be enough people, we can consider this option.

At least, generic kits must be replaced (example: Napoli, PAOK, National Teams, and many others). The list with such teams is attached to this message. There are also many kits without sponsor (Barcelona, Sevilla, and many others). This could be improved after all kits will be upscaled.

A help with redrawing and upscaling some interface textures is also needed.

Great Idea, Huge Project. I remember Fifa 07 very good. The 00-10th Decade was my Favourite Soccer Ära. It´s not more than I installed Fifa 07 and Fifa 08 on RPCS3 PC Emulator to just look what I am getting with upscaled Resolution. Looks not bad the Console Version. But like you mentioned the PC Versions of the old Fifa´s are a mess in terms of Graphics and Player Models.
An off topic Question when you know how to edit old DB or in general: To convert old Fifa Db´s into newer games like idk Fifa 14, 16 or even newer what are the tools to use? Or is it just to heavy?

Changing the resolution of FIFA 07 from 720p to Full HD (1080p) would be truly amazing but noone has figured out how to do it yet.

No Mate, I guess we didn´t mean the same. I know the PC Version. But I mean the PS 3 Emulator called RPCS3. Did you know him? In that Emulator you can increase the Resolution of the games when you set it in the custom Resolution scale, a. e. for Fifa Ps3 Games. I didn´t mean the PC Version, Mate.

Oh, nevermind. I get it now. With this PS3 emulator you can play PS3 games on PC.. so you could play the PS3 version of FIFA 07 on PC with this emulator. I think the PC version (especially the gameplay) is much better (apart from the graphics) though. I might install this emulator anyway. I just found out that there is a

Playstation 2 (PS2) Emulator for PC: PCSX2

in which you can change the resolution of the PS2 games up to 4k! If I remember well, the PS2 version of FIFA 07 is exactly the same as the PC version so.. yeah. It could work. I just need to find the PS2 version of the FIFA 07 game I guess. The only downside is that these PS2 games are hard to find online now.​

Yes, if you don´t have the legal DVD copy of a PS 3 Fifa game it will be difficult.

Yes but with the Ps 3 Emulator you can also change the resolution to 4k.
And the Ps 3 Version is better in terms of graphics in general.
It´s just interesting if you wanna play those old grizzled graphic Fifa 07 with better Graphics. It lacks because you can´t mod the game like on PC. It´s in general a PS Console on PC with better graphics but no mod support unfortunetly. Both Emulators are free and will update a lot. But if you want to play some other Ps 3 games with higher resolution the Emulator is top notch for do so.

Do you still have this patch with the Russian Premier League for FIFA 07? It's an old patch, right? I have the russian premier league for FIFA 07 but only from 2019-2020 season with not many faces in it. I have a good patch for FIFA 08 with the russian PL (from 2007-2008 or 2008-2009) but the FIFA 08 kits are not compatible with FIFA 07. If you still have the patch, do you mind sharing it? The players also have their names in russian?

I haven't played FIFA07 for ages but this might be that exact RPL07 patch

I can help you with these portraits, but only to a limited extent. I myself further refine my database in my mod.
You can just send me a list of players to do and in what format they have to be.

This might sound like a noob question to you, but how did you delete the background of the minifaces in Photoshop if it's not white or already deleted (in png format)?
I also made about 600 minifaces from the original FIFA 07 PC game (although most of these minifaces are from Ultimate Team, from FIFA 10 or above) and another 500 minifaces of classic players but I can't delete the background of these minifaces unless the background is white.
It would really motivate me to create or edit more retro FIFA 07 patches (like the CEP V5). I would create at least 2000 more minifaces from/for the CEP V5 Patch and at least 1000 minifaces of top classic players if I'd know how to delete the background of the minifaces.
I would share my minifaces and help you with new/more minifaces if you'd explain to me how do you delete the backgrounds.

Most of faces were taken from FIFA Manager 07 or FIFA Manager 08.
For new pictures, I delete the background with remove-bg service and then adjust the size, position, colors and contrast in PS. I also add some shadow because faces in FIFA Manager used it.

I'm trying to stick with 2006/2007 photos (even more precisely - 2006 pre-season).

I will prepare a list of most important players who still don't have a picture, so anyone who's interested, could help. Maybe I will also give a small guide on how to prepare minifaces.

OMG, I realize just now how much time I wasted creating minifaces for FIFA 07 when I could have just extracted them from FIFA Manager. That remove-bg program will make my life much easier and will save a lot of my time in the future. Will also help me create better minifaces.
But with what program you can extract the minifaces from FIFA Manager 07 or 08?
Obviously my minifaces are not of your quality if you also edit the colors and the contrast and add shadows.. but I'd be glad to share my minifaces especially (after I delete the backgrounds to all my FIFA 07 original minifaces and) after I'll create some more. I guess you could edit the colors, the contrast and add shadows later on.
