Only it wont look nearly as good. Also next gen is now current gen. The pc screens do look better than 08 though. But nowhere close to 360 or ps3

I wonder how much of a gameplay improvement there will be - hopefully gameplay also starts to catch up to xbox 360 and the ps3.

Hey Lior... remember me? Long time no see...

As you might know, I stopped being a FIFA gamer (and editor) since PES came out for PC. I got tired of the lies from EA SPORTS. I'm still a PC gamer, and probably will never stop being one, and will never change to any console.
Now, obviously this statements and promises of protraying the amazing, nearly perfect, game they made for EURO 2008 on XBOX 360 got me, and everybody in my position (believe me there are a lot of people you might remember from back in the day... like Ariel Santarelli, etc) hyped up and really excited. But I think I know EA so well that I can't believe what I read to a 100%...
I mean... is it EA's plan to portray everything they've done with stunning performance for XBOX 360 to PC as nearly possible? Because from what I read there... they're going to make a specific gameplay for PC, which scares me a little because I'm afraid they might ruin what they've done for XBOX 360. Now, I've never played that game... even though I keep talking about the XBOX 360 version, I'm just judging from what I've seen on YouTube and from what some friends of mine which have played it told me.

EA SPORTS have an amazing Marketing Group which dedicate their time to create all this terminology, and stuff that get us all hyped up... but since I was around here for so long (since FIFA 2001 up until FIFA 2005) and since I was such an extreme player and editor, I know them so well and I'm afraid I'm falling once again for their lies.

Could you Lior, or Matt (I don't know if he's still around or what) evacuate those doubts of mine?

i'm sorry, but for what i've hear fifa 09 will not be next gen
today's pc are not as good as xbox or ps3, i know sounds stupid what i've just said, but when it comes to gaming and "next-gen" is going to be a long way for pc to get to that

i'm not saying pc graphics and gameplay won't be updated, they might and they should, but not enough to be next gen

FIFA09 will not be NEXT-GEN, just have some graphics from the NEXT-GEN consoles (XBOX and PS3), but i want to say you`ll be much pleased after you`ll see some new screenshots... FIFA08 wasn't different from FIFA07 as graphic, just a lil bit as gameplay... know FIFA09 have some graphic from NG consoles and perhaps some gameplay from them to... i`ll think will be better than was the release of FIFA08;)... i need to say almost "much" better:)
In PC you`ll see same turf and ball as in NG console, and graphic as kits have been improved too, but perhaps not that much, as i see in screenshots from PC still tucked kits like in FF08 and not like in EU08:D

Don't for a second think that consoles are more powerful than PCs. Look at Call of Duty 4, it runs at higher resolution and higher FPS on PCs than the consoles. Don't say PC's technology isn't being utilized either, look at Crysis. Now, you are kinda right - there's next to nill market for the casual gamer in PCs these days. Especially sports. I'm greeting FIFA 09 with apprehension, yet also anticipation. It will be better than 08 I'm thinking, but I don't know how it will match up with the consoles. Not because the PC isn't capable, but because there's little market for a PC sports game these days (in the US especially), so developers simply don't put as much effort into sports games on the PC. Madden and Live ran on old engines for years before finally being discontinued. NBA 2k8, a fantastic basketball sim on the PS3 and 360, has never even seen the light of day on a PC.

Oh, come on guys!!! FIFA 09 will not be NEXT GEN, just look at the PC screens... It's somewhere in the middle, DONT POST NEW THREADS FOR SUCH THINGS!

What I'm really intrerested in is still the kit question. As we've already seen on the first released PC screenshots, we won't get real next-gen graphics but at least better o.-models for balls and kits and also the grass will be kinda 3D.

Now I really wonder how far kits got improved in FIFA 09. Are they really like the next-gen kits on PS3 and Xbox360, like waving or vibrating in the air? For now it's hard to judge weather they'll be anything like this or if they'll stay static like in FIFA 08, because there aren't many screens for 09.
Nevertheless, some guys at the official fifa-forums are claiming that PC graphics will be like the ones from FIFA 07 on Xbox360.

Will we have the same nice-looking kits as in the PS3 or Xbox360 versions or not?

I think it's hard to decide this, but the fact that deeper parts on the kits have shaddows depending on the source of light is a good sign. We can also see that players really sweat now and have a more realistic and more detailed skin, so why shouldn't the kits be on the same niveau?

I'd say it wont be exactly like that. The kits look static to me. The quality is A LOT better, but not next-gen :).
