They decided to have more morph targets this time around, it seems ;)
In Fifa 13 we just needed the models, and the game would probably apply the animations on its own (the example I gave on a previous post about the fifa 12 head models in fifa 13, where players blink their eyes when you enter edit mode, whereas those same models had no such animation in fifa 12)
I remember once while snooping around the game files of fifa 12 finding some files among the bin file for the gameface files, a file or so related to animation morph targets... Perhaps in fifa 14 they've chosen to take the time they've saved in making custom faces, cause the scanned ones turn out much better and probably have a more "streamlined" creation process, and used it to expand on the facial expressions of the players :P

Jor1980 will work on 14 cfc probably this week. It will take time all headers need to be rebuilt.

About converting faces from FIFA 13 to FIFA 14 I guess it will be possible only removing animations except eyes oens. Not sure if we will be able to find how to assign the others.

Really I guess they made a strange movement. In real football I don´t see players laughing but than saying "GOOOOOOOOOOAL" when a team scores. EA changed GOOOOOOOOOAL in their expresion for a player laughing (?) Check in replays. Also in some faces the laughing animation is horrible.

I mean in FIFA 13 you see players ( teammates of the one that scored ) with their mouth open shouting Goal! Now you just see teammates laughing.

My guess it they took "bits" of NG version and "paste" them in current engine.
It's not just laughing animation. Even when they have injuries, they have that pain expression that doesn't look natural at all.
About removing the animations, imo it's better to do the faces from scratch then risking to have bugs later in-game.
