The part you have wrong here is that EA designs their games to make money. That's priority #1 for EA. They specifically target young people, online gamers and casual gamers, and design and develop their games for them. Those gamers probably make up 90% of their consumer base and EA knows that.

Other companies -- Konami, Bioware, SCEA, etc. -- make games because they have a love for the game they're making. Yes, they want to make money, and who doesn't. But making a realistic, quality game is priority #1 for these companies. This is how EA and Konami are fundamentally different: Konami is first and foremost focused on making a FOOTBALL SIM. EA is first and foremost focused on making whatever type of sports game they know will sell.

If you don`t make money, then you won`t have the power of influence and productions of big AAA Titles. EA can`t afford to make FOOTBALL SIM, if they don`t sell well then they will lose a lot of money. Since they spend millions on Fifa they have to sell millions of copies of FOOTBALL SIM, to turn a profit. Square Enix recently described sales of its latest AAA blockbusters Tomb Raider (4.5 million) and Hitman Absolution (3.6 million) as disappointing.
I know AAA games suck, but without them you won`t have good production companies with big budget, and not all AAA games suck. For example Mass Effect 3, BioShock Infinite, Uncharted 3, GTA 5, Battlefield 3 and Skyrim have good design and quality. So if EA makes a FOOTBALL SIM and lose money we`ll be playing Fifa on Angry Birds Graphic Engine, not on NEXT GEN.
Without the same amount of money, Fifa would be less ambitious in scale and scope because finance allows development teams to grow, and buys time to push technology as hard as possible. Just give them time, change will happen, hopefully soon.

Typical sort of brainless consumer EA targets with their sports games, lol.

Bangus, I think you have been playing FIFA 13 in amateur/beginner difficulty or something... or maybe you have bought a copy of FIFA 11 inside in a FIFA 13 box. Otherwise, I don't understand your point. You've said that FIFA is an arcade game and PES is a simulator... this is the first (and only) time that I've heard this.

Nice try at trolling buddy. Only someone who is being willfully ignorant is unaware of the fact FIFA is considered to be an arcade representation of the sport while PES has always been seen as a sim. And the fact that PES hasn't been very good the past few years doesn't change any of that. Older football gamers and adults who have played PES in its heyday understand this, you're not one of them obviously.

Animations look the same, except for the sprint dribble one at 11:38... Not quite as fluid as PES. As I said earlier, the graphics and crowd are the only discernible good changes for me.

Take it easy man, it's not necessary to get nervous. I've been playing FIFA since FIFA 97, and PES since Winning Eleven 3 Final Ver, so your point that "I'm not an older football gamer" is invalid. I'm 22 years old, by the way.

I always knew that PES series were more focused in simulation than FIFA series, which was always focused in "arcade gaming". But this trending has been changed since 2008, when EA Sports decided to take more care about "real simulation".

If you played the last versions of PES, you note always the same situation to score a goal: making a forward pass to an striker, and then this generate an one on one, when the goalkeeper has nothing to do to avoid the goal. In FIFA 13, you will see variety of attacking moves. That's all.

I can't express with the same eloquence in english that in my language (spanish), sorry if you don't understand any of my points.

Okay sorry, I misunderstood, thanks for clearing that up. I try not to criticize other peoples' opinions of these games because they're all just personal opinions, same as mine are, that's all.

Looks like EA is pulling the same BS they did in 2006 when they announced they built a brand new engine for next-gen Madden. But the game animated and played exactly the same as the previous-gen version, the only real difference was an improvement in graphics.

I stated before that EA is not going to change FIFA's gameplay with this new-gen version. The game as it plays now has made EA billions, they're not going to mess with that.

If you stop the video at 2:40 you can see actual players warming up in the proper kits with a bib on and players sitting on the bench like that.
Looks like the actual players on the bench are the players you have on the bench.

If Nick didn't say this is Ignite on Xbox One I wouldn't even notice the graphics difference between this and the version for current gen. Gameplay looks nice, I must say, but PES is still vastly in my favor, in both gameplay and graphics. Too bad they showed only replays.

In this action Xavi actually didn't touched the ball with the head. Real contact is nowhere if you look more carefully.
HAND TO HEAD PLAYERS is translucent; I might explain less detailed.

I see there is a new feature offered FIFA 14.
but unfortunately the best FIFA 14 belongs only to next-gen toy, not for my PC which is more expensive than the next gent toy..

sooo disappointing... so few changes, if PES' gameplay is better i'll switch completely, but I'll still continue patching FIFA for the coming years (I may also makes PES patches)

Not to me, I haven't owned a game console in 3 years. And knowing how EA always works and how they spin things, I expected their Ignite-powered FIFA game to be little more than a graphics upgrade. People didn't learn from EA's Madden next-gen BS from a few years back I guess.

If you want a good laugh, check out EA's 2006 next-gen trailer for Madden. This is what they said next-gen football was supposed to look like. And now they're pulling the same crap with their Ignite/PS4/Xbox One marketing.
