I watched part of that video. Cool. You sound like a great guy too lol. So you say FIFA 17 CPU back passes more than FIFA 18... Is that by default, or because it is edited?
By default, FIFA 17 AI tend to do more back-passes and have more variety in the build up play than FIFA 18. I noticed that custom tactics have more impact in FIFA 17 as well as I can see difference between how each team plays. I basically made the gameplay patch to remove any scripts, boosts and handicap that randomly occurs in matches or between matches especially in career mode and improved ball physics especially for header. Also removed any input delay from the gameplay which can be seen in both FIFA 17 and FIFA 18 and made defending a bit more harder in FIFA 17.
Oh okay. So that answers both my questions. There was a lot going on in that video that looked pretty good in terms of a real football match, it was impressive. So I assume this is a Frosty patch? I was thinking of downloading FIFA 17 tonight. The men's game in FIFA 18 is unplayable to me, so I made all the men into women and it's a lot better (women's AI and animations are superior). But I'm wanting a game where I can play with mens teams.
It's a combination of initfs_Win32(To remove hardcore boost), locale.ini(Scripting removal, ball physics, input delay fix, etc) and Career Mode files(includes http://soccergaming.com/index.php?threads/fifa-18-career-mode-patch-frosty-mod.6464124/ for FIFA 17 and fixes some tournament, career mode boosts). I agree that the woman gameplay is much more better. I have been trying to hex edit the exe to find a way to use that gameplay for man. I will share it if I find a way to patch that.

Thanks for the link. Definitely interested if you find a hex fix, I've been looking for a way as well.
I downloaded FIFA 17 last night and have been playing it for a bit. SHOCKING how much better the mens game play is compared to FIFA 18. If ever there was proof that EA patches the game play as the year goes by, in order to appease the arcade/FUT crowd, it's FIFA 18. What was a beautiful football game last September has turned into a one-dimensional attack fest; no thought or tactics required, just SPRINT and REACT.
The FIFA 17 womens game play though... the jury is still out. My first response is the FIFA 18 womens game play is slightly better; it seems more refined, the animations aren't as disjointed, and the ball physics are improved. But I've only played a few minutes so I'll reserve judgment.
Thanks again, this is like getting a whole new FIFA game in July.
So an hour later I am starting to remember why I stayed with FIFA 18 and never went back to FIFA 17. I play older versions of FIFA from time to time, but I never play 15 because it was a real mess. And now I recall the issues I had with 17. FIFA 17 AI -- the player animations and ball physics in particular -- feel like the beta version EA came up before they perfected it further in FIFA 18. Examples: My players run forward when I grab the ball in my end. In FIFA 18 they then slow down as they look back, watching for the pass. In FIFA 17, they stop and stare ahead for a moment, as if in a daydream. Then they turn and wait. Transition animations appear to be missing or just poorly programmed. Ball clearances in FIFA 17 often fire straight up, the physics aren't as refined for sure.
Also, I use manual controls, and the manual controls in FIFA 18 are about the best they have ever been. They were also superb in FIFA 16. But FIFA 17 was a transition game to Frostbite, and EA got the manual controls all wrong. Players feel like they are running and passing on rails at times. Going to keep playing though, see if I can improve on all that. Already got my DBM edited squads rocking, so it will help that I can edit stuff.
I think I know what you are talking about with the issue in FIFA 17. However if you get the original FIFA 17 without any patches and use the gameplay patch, I don't notice that issue. It's called like a wait timer or transition timer or something that I set to 0. Also I have changed a lot of the ball physics in FIFA 17. I loved the ball physics of FIFA 16 so tired to use similar values of that.
Thanks for this @TheAwesomeGem. I've given up on FIFA 18. I quite enjoyed 17 though so going back to that for a bit.
Will check out your patch tonight.
Does anyone happen to know if there are 2018-19 FIFA17 updates with league promotions anywhere? Or do you guys just play with the 2017 squads?
