Golden rules: Always search around your comp first,delete or uninstall any programs and/or patchs that you installed before the problem started happening. Always go to uk.ea.com for help they know more about this game than me or Hercules.
1. NO NAMES AND NUMBERS
There are a lot of people always asking why they don't have numbers and all it does is mess up the forum so here I decided to answer this for everyone and put it as a sticky.
(a) Play around with the resolution
(b) Always make sure your card acceleration is at full.
(c) Make sure your settings are on high.
These aren't sure answers and it didn't work for me but they MAY help.
The answer however to why people don't see numbers and names is simple.........your card isn't good enough, buy a new card.
btw dont post anymore threads about this topic if you do it will fall under spamming and will be deleted.

Check to see if your video card is compatible with the game and that it is one from the list below:
16 MB Direct3D capable video card using the NVIDIA GeForce4, NVIDIA GeForce3, NVIDIA GeForce2, NVIDIA GeForce 256, NVIDIA Riva TNT2, NVIDIA Riva TNT, NVIDIA Quadro, 3dfx Voodoo5, 3dfx Voodoo 4, ATI Radeon 8500, ATI Radeon 7500, ATI Radeon 7200, ATI Radeon VE, ATI Radeon, Matrox Parhelia, Matrox MGA-G550, Matrox MGA-G450, Matrox MGA-G400, SIS Xabre, or Intel i810 chipset with DirectX 8.1 compatible driver.
If you have one of the above listed video cards, please ensure that the detail level in the game's Options screen is set to FULL.
Check to make sure the drivers for the video card are up-to-date.
Try lowering the desktop color depth to 16-bit and the resolution in the game to 800 x 600 x 16

2. INSTALLATION PROBLEMS
Q: Installation stops at 42%
A: If you have Windows 98 this is most likely the reason why. I have found almost all (maybe all) of the people who have this problem have Windows 98. Upgrade to a higher version of Windows. Though EA say fifa will work for 98 this might not always be the case. In all the cases the installation will only run on medium.It might be that your comp simply isnt fast enough.
3. Graphics and sound problems
In general for all sound or graphics problems its best to send an email to the EA help center with a DXDIAG copy(you will see how at the site) and a screenshot of the problem(if its a graphics problem).
Play around with the resolutions and depth settings see what happens.Also try installing under medium or maybe even low if the problem consists.
Direct X 9.0 problems: Some people have had problems with graphics after installing 9.0
4. Choppy game
Q: Game runs choppy
A: Lower the resolution to as low as it can go on your game,and also lower the settings to low or medium. Run disk defragmentor this will make your computer a bit fast because it will rid it of uneeded files.
To make the game smooth as butter make these changes in the soccer.ini file:
Change:
VSYNC_MODE = 0
to
VSYNC_MODE = 3
After this, add the following line:
RENDER_EVERY_AI_FRAME = 1
by changeing the VSYNC from 0 to 3 (or any other of the options listed ther,keyword here is 'experiment') you will make it so that the render line doesnt slow down your players.
If all else fails uninstall the game then reinstall it under medium or even low install.
5. Others
Controls: www.fifa2003.com has a controls section if it isnt there then it isnt supported.Who needs the trick key anyway??
Keyboard: For some people the control settings of the keyboard doesnt save after being changed.Do the changes from the main menu options
Headers : You cant do headers in FIFA 2003 when you arent standing alone.
Cut Scenes: There arent any cut scenes for subs this year,and there will only be a goal celebration after the first goal.However www.socceraccess.com Ariel is working on a patch to have cut scenes for all goals and subs.
Creation Centre : You will lose saved games after you change any thing with the CC you should use microsoft access to do this. sKIp_E made an access form thread this will show you how. CC can only run on 32 bit color no less.
Balls: www.socceraccess.com there is something there called ball raptor this will get you all the balls for the PC version of FIFA.
Crashs: Window blinds sometimes causes problems uninstall all patchs/programs you installed lately. If all else fails(after you email ea.uk.com) do a system restore or reformat your comp if that doesnt work
Saved games: You can only delete saved games after you reach a certain amount of saves.
Online Match-up: after you changed ANYTHING in FIFA (kits,patchs,etc etc) it will not work.
6. EA patchs and beta games
There arent any patchs made by EA for FIFA and there has yet to be any news that there ever will be. To tell you the truth there is nothing wrong with the game it is only our systems or what we add to them that screw up FIFA 2003. This is also a reason why there arent any patch as of yet again these isnt anything wrong with FIFA 2003 to patch choppy games, no numbers among other things are just your systems fault
. Not being able to do headers while standing alone isnt a big problem. Its reality how many players do you see just head the ball into any space when they have a chance to chest it down??
Please dont ask any of these questions again UNLESS its to clarify the your problem even further. example: "I cant see names and numbers they were there when i bought the game".
