I like Fifa2004... Its much better than the previous editions...

Maybe some people are upset they bought a semi-strategy, semi-action game instead of like the olds ones... but thats ok...

If you like PES... Great !

and if you like neither, um... get a managerial game, go kick the ball around the park... or play this game...

Having been old enough to play the FIFA series all the way back to the mega drive, and having played PES since it came out on the PS1, I can honestly say that PES3 whilst having faults of its own, is unbelievably better than FIFA 2004.
I cannot believe that some people are 'that' blinkered that they can rip into guys like JimmyBoy30 without considering his opinions.
I have just finished playing my last ever game of 2004 on the Xbox because of the level of frustration involved. The players react like wading through treacle, there's no through ball that works within thirty yards of goal, the feted OTB skills are hopeless, defending turns into random button presses and shots seem to have a mind of their own. Players refuse to run, the tactics just mean players get in your way in a different part of the pitch and the passing is just plain ****e. (Consider this, if pro footballers can't make a five yard pass, should they be playing? - Why make a game that has to be pixel-perfect with simple passing. I don't want the Xbox to play my game for me, but a little logic wouldn't go amiss...)
And before people ask why I have come on here slagging the game off, I have just read a reply earlier on this post saying "We don't care and neither does EA". Are you stupid ??? - really?...
So it doesn't bother you or EA that people who have spent money on a product that they find crap should just sit there, shrug their collective shoulders and think "Oh well, I'll just spend another £40 when the next one comes out and see if that's any good."
I found this forum looking for the developers email address so I could vent my frustration on them (Canadians I believe - figures...) but the narrow-minded individuals on this forum will do for now...
And before anyone replies telling me to shut up and play PES3. I suggest the same, you might just like it...

Artois cheers mate ok i never said FIFA 04 was crap, all the houts that went in were obvious, but lets shift from getting the licences to the gameplay ok please someone tell me that FIFA 2004 has a realistic through ball? What do you think the best midfielders in the world have in there killer locker- the through ball the lofted through ball the beckham long pass, all things that give the strikers the service, all of this is not present in 04. Look at the passing in PES3 the ball bobbles along the ground it feels real!! Fifa is still too much on rails. and what is the betting the next fifa has another off the ball like revolution and the ball is dropped like the ball into space was in 2002!!

So, if during the game, you eventually have the chance to score a goal from 50 yards out ( in real life goals like this happens ), you will avoid to press the kick button, right? So, why not stop scoring also from inside penalty area? I mean, why even worry about scoring????This is, isn't football objective to SCORE???And you're talkin about the best soccer game ever???

yeah right no this is a football simulation, so how many football games on a saturday have 50 yard screemers, why should i have to ignore this bug, and its not so much the shot its the way the keepers are good at stopping snap shots but give them a long shot and they move like a snail!! Shooting should be realistic yes a few 30 yarders that curl and the keeper has no chance but not in the way thsi game shows it spoils it!!

Well, that's your opinion; I happen to like the game. I don't feel 'let down' about the gameplay, I just hate the interface, when playing in Career Mode.
EA can't be all things to all men- some people love the game- other people despise the game! Today's 'PES 3 day' for me, a chance to see what all the fuss is about. Eight hours, and counting...

I think people on here should prefix their 'facts' by saying: "In my opinion..."

i must say u can make more realistic through balls in fifa04 them pes3, cos i ve done some myself, but after getting free socring is too easy, compared to pes3 which takes more effort in scoring, but in fifa it takes more effort to make a sweet through pass and if you say theres no realistic through pass you ve embarrased yourself. and talk about lofted through ball you should use C+A and not A ffs. i ve done some using beckham myself so it makes me wonder am i playin a different version of fifa.yes yes in pes3 making a lofted trough pass is easier but sometimes they go ******* haywire and went to the keeper's feet, hope they solve it in the final version

after reading in here about the flaws of FIFA2004, and agreeing w/ many of them... and reading about the 'genius' of PES3, and its true-soccer feeling... i decided to try PES3, of course, in hopes of playing the ultimate soccer game.

Result: of playing 3-4 games in PES3, i'm winning 5 or 6-nil minimum in all games, in the hardest level!!!! and shooting from far also causes goal, just like the FIFA series.

PES3 better than FIFA? well, at least it's almost similar... maybe some day LOL

Well unfortunately, anyone who has actually played PES or WE won't believe that nonsense you just wrote.

Well if you want my opinion, the game is not the worst FIFA ever. There are many bugs or problems, shooting, AI, only being able to shoot on free kicks w/no angle, Vieri and Recoba shooting right footed, being able to lob the ball right to a player from anywhere on the field using OTB....just to get started.

I am also one of those crazy poeple that think WE/PES are light years ahead. That being said, I do like this FIFA (when I look past the flaws), I think it is the closest representation of real soccer EA has come up with yet. The player movements are much more realistic (they aren't supermen anymore who can turn and pass and shoot in any direction with lots of power), the ball is free now (no more sticking to the players feet and dribbling 75 yards), and I have found on world class that is harder to score. The most goals I have scored on World Class was 4 against Perugia. No more game scores of 8-4 or 7-5 or something stupid like that. Overall I think they have done an OK job. Just enough to keep interested online, I don't play the CPU very often.

I just downloaded the demo to PES3 and compared it to FIFA 2004. Sorry but PES3 really does make FIFA look very weak. Konami have really done a number on EA, who have I really dont have any idea what they play around for a year doing - obviously not making a good game. Maybe this years sharp drop in sales will make them realize that they were only top dog because of the non-existent competition on the PC.
