people like you make me wonder if you have ever played pes. This feature is one of the many stolen by ea from pes. the so-called finesse shot which has very-unrealistic curves in fifa is known as the controlled shot since pes 5. pes has the nomarl shot, the snap shot, the lob shot the chip shot and the controlled shot. i think the r1 after shot scoops it and what does fifa have? rubbish mimicks of pes's. They even tried to copy the touch sensitive players but i guess the got tht one right

fifa is still crap despite its improvement (gameplay stats animation and graphics. pes pc & ps2 owns fifa pc & ps2). its just doing what should have been done years ago. its like the feeling of a father when his 40 year old son finally leaves the basement.

EA stole this feature straight off from PES/WE. And they didn't even do it right.

It's not the 1st time EA stole a feature from its much more successful competitor...
What did EA steal last year? The Konami control scheme.
What about the year before? Konami's first touch. (only for EA to make it into a circus acrobatic 1st touch)

It just goes on and on. PES is indeed way ahead.

WRONG! I play PES5 everyday, I even have the latest patch by socceraccess UEFA CL patch, downloaded it last night. I also make patches myself so don't give me the cliche "you never played PES"...

The problem is you have not actually played Fifa 07, if you had played it you would have known what I meant. The R2+shooting in PES has not such control over your shooting like in FIFA 07. It is much better with Fifa (not the shooting itself but only the control over the type of the shot) as you control it totally. I only would like to see such control in PES, I dont like some of the scripted shots that still exist in PES. (don't tell me there isn't)

I like PES better but fanatics of either games make me sick. OK so you are a fanatic and you won't touch FIFA even if it had some improvements but don't come up here and tell me I have never played PES. You don't even read the comments carefully and can not stand any critics.

I go for the better game. I am not a fanatic of a brand, either FIFA or PES, I don't care about the name. I WILL PLAY THE BEST OF THEM. (for my liking)

I have the freedom to praise an improvement in FIFA if I like it. If you can't stand it then don't read it. It is as simple as that. I like the commentary better, I like the sound effects better, it has a better atmosphere and the animations are better. (they still have not fixed the animations in PES where the foot don't collide with the ball when you shoot, there is always a gap between them).

People like you avoid the competition. The more people like me who praise the improvements in one game will push the other developer to copy it (and make it better) in order to produce a better game.

For instance, Wouldn't you like to have the sound effects and commentary quality in PES?

(summary and quick note for the fanboys who can't read this: MY FAVORITE game is PES, I don't like FIFA but what I think is what I think. If I like something in FIFA I will say it. You don't have to read it.)

You implied that the R2 shot was a new feature by EA that you hoped Konami would add in PES6. And I guess we all thought that too. This however, isn't true at all.

Btw, I played Fifa07, quite the same day I uninstalled it. What makes you think I haven't? Anyways I met many pro-Fifa gamers and I have no problem with them.

However, let me tell you this. They all have one thing in common: They don't like PES/WE because it is (in their own words): Difficult; can't score at all or can't score easily.

And this is a plus for PES/WE if you ask me.

Yes there is competition! Look at Fifa's commentary and the sound effects. The animations...The crowd reactions are superb, -things like protesting for the final whistle when you are leading the game, or the applauses when you pass the ball around-. These are where Fifa beats PES by far. The crowd effects are awful in PES. Don't you hear when they repeat some crappy sound through out the whole match? That was why WOLF made the patch for PES4 which had fantastic chants and graphical improvements.

There are parts KONAMI has to improve. The gameplay is great but why settle with PS2 graphics where we can have much better, or why settle with stupid commentary with limited vocabulary. These will make the game better if they improve it but I don't see any changes for 2 years in these areas.

I don't want to sound like FIFA is better, it sucks in many areas, such as:

-the shooting is too easy in FIFA 07
-almost every free kick is a goal now
-the wrong deflections by the goalkeepers may look realistic but it ended up with easy and stupid goals.
-goals are once again repetitive
-scoring from halfway line is again too easy
-the aftertouch is kind of exaggerated

have u seen the fifa ai.ini code? there is a limit to how much you can miss a shot by and if you exceed tht they add a curve of 1.2 which is 120% spin so the ball does an unrealistic curve into the top corner and all you kids smile thinking you are actually good.

pes has no such nuisances meaning tht u have more free dom to aim where you want. Why fifa will forever be a wannabe pes is cos mainly kids play their game and they dont want to be too hard cos they fear the kids would run away.

No ones doubting they've copied. But PES this year has no depth at all. I mean its exactly the same as last year. Only a few animations have been added and they've messed up the shooting. At least Fifa has a better shot than pes6. Where everything goes sky high unless ure running fast at goal.

why not .. POST A REPLAY OF YOU DOING THAT IN HERE FOR LIKE SAY ? 10 GAMES ? especially the one u said from halfway and everyfree kick is a goal...

have u even tried playing online ? i really wonder, try to do that online against other fifa players, they are just going to make u look stupid.

i get fifa 07 not to play with AI cuz it is just dumb, play online against other players direct IP , other players from all over the world and challenge yourself only THEN U JUDGE FIFA


and about people saying fifa stealing ideas from PES ? or whatever

this is business, business isnt just about creating your own ideas, but observing and implementing what others do as well. another point, fifa receives feedbacks can they can always improve upon the feedback

look if some of you really hate fifa that much, instead of keep complaining here, buzz off , couple less players play fifa wont change the entire world and not like the others who finds the challenge in it cares really.

it comes from so so many areas

corners
freekicks
beating a flat back
one-twos
deep crosses
byline crosses
volleys
setting up for a long shot (which could be your defender scoring)
dribbling pass defenders
lobbing pass over the defensive wall
counter attacks (tactics)

and not to mention all the different formations which can allow u to launch different attacks from different areas of the field.....

really all these doest really gets into your brain unless u play online against others players when people's. If you havent really experience the sheer joy of chipping a ball that came from a long lobbing pass over the opponents charging-keeper. i suggest u try it soon.

Multiplayer is a different story. I play very well and have got the 3rd place in the last online tournament in my country. My critics were about the single play.

If you had read my previous posts you would have seen I praised Fifa 07 but I state the flaws(in my opinion) of both games. You can agree or not they are my opinions.

Fifa 07 is IMO is the best in the series since RTWC 98 which was a huge leap at its time from Fifa 97.

Frankly the graphics and sound effects this year are just brilliant, I feel like watching a real football match especially during the cut scenes like at the start of the game and after scoring goals.

Graphics, sound, and game modes are a major achievement for EA this year and we can't take that away from them. They've got to be saluted for their hard work in those departments.

But gameplay wise, c'mon, they've simply just "CLONED" winning eleven and pro evo. They've even changed the controller configuration to draw more PES fans into trying the game. And despite all that they still didn't manage to make the gameplay as fluent, real, or fun as PES, at least for die hard football fans like myself.

To cut it short just look at the variety of tactical options available in WE and PES and compare them to Fifa where you can't even make your own personal formation.

People who say PES is much harder, I really don't think so. Infact I feel I have much more control on my players in WE than Fifa. I'm not the perfect player, I play both games on a "medium" difficulty (4 stars for WE/PES and Professional for Fifa). But for instance, the tricks in WE are much more controlled whereas in Fifa using that stupid "trick stick" it's just about smashing the right analog in all directions and hoping that my player would pull off something sweet to get him past his marker. Infact, this is somewhat unimportant in Fifa since most of the time you can get past defenders just by avoiding face to face contact whereas in WE you have to do something to get past defenders especially when you play against a defensive style team.

I just feel that EA will never get that edge in gameplay unless they finally start to watch some real football matches on regular basis.

It just doesn't make sense to play an entire half of football with the ball never going out of bounds even once for example.

I'm not saying PES is perfect, it has it flaws, and I'm not talking about the graphics and sound effects, it has other gameplay flaws but still, gameplay wise, WE is the champ.

The real problem is that each company is dedicating the development of its game in only one direction. Konami is always working on refining gameplay while never caring to add significant improvements to the graphics and sound. On the other hand EA are producing great effects every year but never trying hard enough in the gameplay department, just stealing it from WE without adding a special touch.

The dream of every football gaming fan on the planet IMO is that one day those 2 key players would combine their efforts to produce the ultimate football gaming experience. EA with thier super graphics, sound, and LICENSE of every football team and Konami with their realistic fun gameplay. That would be really incridble but I guess it'll never happen at all since if it happened there will never be anything more to add to that game in later years other than changing the teams' lineups.
